Thanks Tom, that should help a lot of people understand the system. Nice find.

Great video. I tried Launch Control the first week I got the car and was not able to get it to limit at the 4,000 RPM they speak of. After trying the throttle twice and having it go to 7,000 RPM I quit so I would not hurt the engine. I thought I would wait until I had 1,500 miles on the car before I would try it again. I had the DIC display Competitive Mode. What is the trick?

Hold the traction control button down for 7 seconds. It should turn off the traction control and stability track. You will see both lights in the tach stating they are both off. Try it then.

in my case, i was being too gentle on the gas pedal... seriously! here is how i goes: double click the traction control button "competitive mode" will show on DIC from a COMPLETE STOP, clutch to floor, put it in 1st, put the gas STRAIGHT to the floor (do not hesitate) the revs should stop at about 4200 and hold until you drop the clutch... keep your foot ON THE GAS. (BTW, holding the button down for 7 secs turns EVERYTHING OFF... launch will NOT work this way)

LC is for showing off, not 60 footing. It might make you more consistant, but it's certainly not the key to the best ET.

I'd say "not using LC" is showing off since the vast majority of M6 SS owners won't be able to master the art of launching the car w/o distress. |

Ok so I'm going to be a total girl right now (good thing I am one) but does launch control come on both the V6 and V8s? or only one?
