Question NA POWER!?

I'm curries to know how much NA power can be brought out of the LS3 block, I was inittally going for an engine swap but ran into some CARB EO problems so I'm back to the drawing board & locking for ideas I'm not gonna fake it I have a basic knowledge of keeping up a car (70 Monte w/350 & a 66 Stng w/289) my step dad was a ford buy bio father a Chevy guy I'm back around my bio (04 Z06) & I always loved the classic muscle cars the Maro is my dream of 60's muscle with modern power & HANDLEING!! I'm looking to keep the Maro as a daily driver streeting it but able to run with my dad's Z06 at the track as my location shows I am currently in Iraq so I will have a few dollars to play with when I get back. My unlce dragged cars my step dad actually raced on dirt track so I have been around high hp cars & even have some seat time (an engine shop next to my step dad's garage had 2 69 Maro's that they raced on 105 octane I always new when they were playing with those babies b/c I could smell the 105 & a smile would creep across my face even as I turned the wrench on my 289 with the thought of ONE DAY!) I am now a 27 year old combat vet of multilple tours & I have absoulutly no need to street race I have risked my life plenty & have no desire to risk others I am just truely looking to have something that I can have fun with & is truely unique my stroy so far & now I seek the wisdom of the many here on Camaro5...

You can push the LS-series very hard. It's worth pointing out that doing this will require all bolt-on parts, and some internal work. Always tune your modified car for best results, and be sure to study which parts last the longest and which parts provide the most power.

would love to know what this car runs... to prove the 550rwhp, seen sooo many claims and even dynos, yet they don't run close. Way to many ways to mess with the dyno #'s IMO only of course.

I'm fully aware that power numbers dont translate to 1/4 mile numbers.

ive seen the 11 sec LT1 that only has 346 rwhp

mast motorsports...

and GMHTP did a CNC LS3 vette that was pushing 5XX's

http://www.gmhightechperformance.com...wap/index.html

LS3 with a decent cam and cnc ported heads pushing 518rwhp.

that link is 550 flywheel HP.. not RWHP.. RWHP would be 650ish at 550 rwhp

or what I think is realistic 600ish which is 500rwhp. For the street/pump fuel

ok I should not only ask how much but also the best way about doing it, I'm thinking all the internals would need to be replaced with forged & I am aware of bullet-proofing the bottom & drive train it will be a complete build including suspinsion & fat tires & as we all know it will never be "done" b/c there is always something more that can be done lol

Can anyone tell me why the Corvette in the GMHTP article has a stock 406 hp? I know that the vette has some fancy exhaust with diverters, but thats still 50!!! + hp from what I've seen on the forum?? Thanks!

well, the OP didnt specify. he asked how much power could be made from the block. and 518rwhp isnt something to bawk at either...

to answer a few questions.... I think most would be MORE than happy with headers and bolt ons, then just add a mid sized cam and you're in the 450+ rwhp range (525+ engine hp)

more than that gets more expensive of course, and would need ported heads, but still IMO no bottom end work for the street.

Noticed in the Sticky with the LS3 specs that in the summary they state from the LS3 block they had made 700 horse all motor, is that a reality (& that was a few years ago now) & how could that be achieved?

yes you can, but I would assume race fuel and huge compression, huge cam etc.. not a street/driver... 600hp would be possible for a weekend driver.
