Headlight not working properly

Hi guys,

I have NON-RS 1LT. When I drove home today, I realized ONE of my headlights and DRLs (same bulb) does not light up.. but when I got home, I asked my brother to check everything infront. I turned on DRL, turned on headlights, nothing happened. But the HIGH Beams worked for both lights...

So this obviously means the bulb is fine right? Is it some wire or harness?

Also, just to be clear, I don't have the stock Halogen bulbs... I'm using AAC's HOD bulb. Which look like these:

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=88165

They come with some sort of harness... So can you guys advise where I should start looking to find out the problem? Any help would be awesome!

Probably just a lamp that's bad. That's my guess.

Well you could have a melted harness from those bulbs. They draw over stock. That's the reason they have that extra bit of harness. AAC just says it's easier for install so they don't have to tell you that you chance melting something. Remember wire is only as good as the smallest piece in the circuit?? So how is bigger wire in the 6 inches before the bulb going to stop anything from happening?? Id get nokya bulbs if I was you. Get rid of those things. You can get nokyas on ebay and they have all colors.

No, it doesn't mean the bulb is fine. It may mean that only the lowbeam filament is gone.

Keep it simple and try the bulb swap first.

Thanks guys, awesome advice. That's what I needed to hear lol. I'm faily noobie when it comes to lights and electrics.

Also, is it possible that I blew a fuse? Just throwing it out there. And yes, I'll swap the bulbs back to stock, hope that works... I'll keep you guys posted.

Okay you guys, just an update on the situation. Turned out, it WAS the AAC bulb that fried. No longer buying those bulbs... Im back to my stock ones now, and they are working. So sigh of relief here.

Thanks for all of those who helped out! I really appreciate the speedy answers!

I had the same problem with the AAC HOD's. One side was very dim - I could jiggle the wire to that bulb and it'd come back on - but not for long.

It you inspect it where the wires go into the bulb socket, you'll probably see where the white ceramic is now brown and crispy. They do not appear to be able to handle the amperage.

There was no problem with the cars wiring - just the HOD sockets. Probably just a bad design.

I also removed both of mine and replaced the OEM halogens. Everything is fine now, just not as bright.
