Pulling the trigger on kooks 1-7/8 long tubes
Itching to pull the trigger on kooks long tubes for my 15' 1LE. But I have trouble finding them in ceramic coating. That's what everyone is telling me to get so I don't have to worry about any of the rusting.
I'm looking for them with off road pipes (no cats) can anyone help? I've looked on phastek no luck. And even kooks. I don't know what to do next. I messaged Maryland speed and am waiting for a reply. Another question. Does this require a tune after installation?

They are stainless steel so ceramic coating is not needed, the coating is needed for mild steel. Are you getting the stepped headers?

Maryland Speed is where I got mine; coated and a great price with the pipes.
A tune is in order after installing these. It will not self destruct before the tune, but I wouldn't get into power enrichment (wide open throttle) which actually comes on much sooner than the literal wide open throttle. Very likely your fueling will be off in that mode. The coating may not be needed for rust, but it will keep them looking shiny and keep engine bay temps down. |

Ceramic coating helps prevent rust, but Kooks are going to be 304 Stainless.
The other benefit of Ceramic is that it keeps the heat from soaking into the headers and the engine compartment will run much cooler. It's a great add on if you can afford it, but not required. |

What about that jet hot black coating, I see JDP motorsport offering that. Contact them and see what they have to offer.
