tune ?
I live in a small town no where near anyone that does a "tune". What's involved with a tune ?
Can the dealer do it ? Thanks. |

where do you live in SC? I know quite a few people who could get you a tune.
basically what a tune is, is a program written in the cars computer that affects numerous things, including ignition timing, fuel timing, amongst other things. you can do a mail order tune, where you mail your computer to a tuner and they will "flash" it with the new tune on it and mail it back or you can visit a tuners shop and they can tune it on the spot for you. the dealer will not do a tune

Hypertec called me today with a cool deal, 100.00 and they have a beta programmer and thru shipping load and send it back. I couldn't do it..... No car
If you got a car, email em, I sure this is a limited offer for initial offering. |

If your modifying your car in anyway the mail in tunes are a waste, IMO. With mods you need a good "driving tune". one of the most important aspects of tuning the engine correctly is getting the A/F (air/fuel) dialed in. You can not do that through the mail. The fuel trims need to be adjusted, timing tables adjusted and a wide band monitor hooked up to it and more. If you have to drive five hours to a pro it will be worth it and the $500 you will pay him.

a tuner I talked to says he got 20 HP and 25 torque with LS3, he has not done L99 yet and believes the L99 will have more, I need more break-in miles for mine he said, so I am considering being the L99 guiney pig. Cost with dyno $450, he would do mine for less.
