My new 2013 SS, need help

Hey guys,

New to the forums here, I'm looking for some opinions. Just got my car this past Saturday and dumb me didn't look under the hood. But when I did I found that the engine had rust on the inlets and exhaust. Came to the dealer I got it from and they take a look at it and say it's normal. So I want to see what you guys think? The pictures iI took are in the attachments.

How to hug your camaro
Buy the car that you would most like to get beat in. The other guy will always be faster.

That seems a little excesive. If you look at the 2nd pic, notice the corrosion on the valve cover. Looks like is has been exposed to salt water. Was this a new or used car? If used, maybe shipped to Calif. from the east coast flood states?

Absolutely normal.

Tell the wife you need to get some headers to stop the rust from spreading. :-)

It's in long beach California and isn't that far from the ocean but still seems a little much for a new car tho. Looked at my friends are and his isn't even close to looking like that and it's a 2010.

I would take the engine cover off and really look at the valve covers. The corrosion on them would concern more than the rust on the exhaust manifolds.

If you are concerned about the age of the car you should be able to see the build date on the option sticker inside the door or research the VIN number. You can also run a web search on the VIN number to see if it shows up at multiple dealers. Not saying that there is anything wrong with your car, but you have some options to see if there is anything to be concerned with.

Normal, I use to live in Long Beach, the sea air causes it and it doesn't take long. How long has the car sat on the lot? 6 months? Normal.
