Waiting...

Well, I know lots of people have waited a long time for their cars, and many are still waiting.

My wait is going to be a little.... different.

I ordered a black 2ss/rs with ground effects on May 12th.
Was given an 8 week estimation at the time (but it's now July 28th, and I don't have a build-date yet) I realize with the transmission issues on the m6's I'll likely be waiting atleast another month.

Unfortunately, I've recently been told I have a herniated disc in my spine, and it has recently gotten worse...I was in an MVA back in 2004.... a rear seat passenger... Our vehicle was struck by a stolen car T-boned our pickup truck hitting it on the side where I was sitting.. The source of the back pains was never discovered despite my ongoing complaints of pain, until a couple months ago... thanks to blurred original MRI's that were done in 2004.. New ones revealed the disc herniation.

I am 27 years old... and have already undergone a number of health issues due to the accident... Gettin tired of the pain. What I've been told is that in most cases a herniated disc will resolve itself after a period of a few weeks. In about 10% of the cases, they do not resolve. (I fall into this category obviously 2004 until present) And these ones always pose the risk of getting worse and causing further injury & pain.

It's a scary choice but I chose the surgery route.... Have read a lot of scary stories about other peoples experiences... Hopefully mine works out.

I have 24/7 pain and tingling + numbness from my neck down my right shoulder through my arm into my finger tips. Think of smashing your funny bone really bad.... now think of that from the neck to your finger tips 24/7.. that pretty much sums it up.

As for the "Waiting..." well....
I got my surgery date, and, I'll be getting my surgery before my Camaro arrives... (Anterior cervical discectomy) which means I'll be unable to drive for a while after I come out... Was hoping to drive the Camaro before surgery, but it doesn't look like thats going to happen realistically (surgeries
about a week away)

Sooooo I may either not be able to pick up my car, or someone else will have to drag it to my place and it will have to sit in my garage.... and I won't be able to drive it until I've healed enough which could be between 4-8 weeks or longer depending on how things go?

Ah well, I realize purchasing it now might not be the smartest idea, considering the risks involved in my surgery... (i could end up in worse condition, paralyzed, dead, or requiring further surgeries...) but I figure I should try to be optomistic and hope for the best case scenario which would be me being pain free and back to a normal life with a treat to look forward to in the driveway.

So I am spoiling myself. (With some of the money from my accident which wasn't a lot in reality..... because it was an un-insured driver in a stolen vehicle, and I was a student without full time work) soooo I get the short end of the stick.

Hopefully I am well enough to drive sooner than later.
Gonna be annoying, having the car and not being able to drive yet.
Not looking forward to surgery or the healing process..... Buuut maybe knowing that Camaro is waiting in the drive will keep me motivated to heal faster =P

Good luck to you with your surgery. Best wishes for a full and speedy recovery so that you'll be able to enjoy your car. Seems like it would be so hard to look at the car everyday and not be able to get in it or drive it, but at least you'll know its there waiting for you. I know what your going through. Its not a fun thing. 4 of my lower lumbar disks in my back are herniated and bulging. I have had alot of pain and I know how hard it is to just function day to day. I at one point was exploring the option of surgery but decided not too due to financial situations. Fortunately with the aid of Pain, Muscle relaxers and Anti-Inflammatory Medicine's I was able to get the pain under control and have not had any further problems with it so far with the exception of some muscle spasms in my legs and some pain from standing for long periods of time. So I thank God for that. Anyway I'll be praying for you and hope everything goes well.
