HU & amp upgrade w/BA

Hello everybody::yup just like from the Simpsons::

Im looking to upgrade some components in my BA equipped 'Maro. I've been doing some reading but still need some help. Now before I begin, I am no audiophile and I'm already half deaf(thank you Afghanistan). But what I can hear is that my BA system needs some help. I'm looking at upgrading the HU and the amp for starters. Upon reading that after a new more powerful amp is installed with the "fark" the speakers come to life. <- so be it. I also would like to upgrade my HU, heck who wouldn't. That OEM GM crap is horrible..plus it prolly wouldn't hurt the sound quality to change it out. So this is what I'm looking at to install. Keep in mind I don't need a 5k sound system, just something above the BA quality.

HU

Amp

Also if I am correct I will need this to keep the USB in the center console.

Opinions or changes are welcomed.
Now for the install kit/face plate, I know there are only two choices. The Scosche looks the better of the two. I really hope all the bugs have been worked out.

Also A sub will be installed later down the road.

Ok, here is what I have in a few cars I own:

AVX-X5600BHS, big brother to the one you selected, this thing is awesome!

GM-A6604 for front/rear speakers and GM-D9601 for the subs. You are looking at a better amp for the fronts/rears, nothing wrong with that! Mine kills my ears when cranked so I stuck with that model.

Pioneer includes a USB cable to go from the rear of the head unit to wherever you want it, I think it was about four feet long.

I do not remember if they included a 3.5mm cable or not.............

Not sure if you have a backup camera in your car already, nor do I know if you can use it with the Pioneer unit. I bought a cheap one through Amazon which has worked fine for me. This is in my Vette, have not put one in my truck yet, but ran a wire for it so I don't need to dig behind the dash.

If you want XM radio, that is a separate module you will need. I only use my USB stick.

I have not hooked-up the wire so I can watch DVD's, have no interest in that.

I did burn a few DVD's with MP3's, but once I used the USB stick, I don't use the DVD player anymore for myself. My wife has HER DVD in there for HER music. It is great, no more fighting between us!

I can't tell you anything about an install kit. I am using the stock BA head unit in my Camaro, I like the integration with the rest of the car, plus I "cheated" that system and made it sound pretty good without changing the front or rear speakers yet. I will, but for now I just have a dual 12" subwoofer setup and dual Pioneer amps, plus my "secret" where the stock amp used to sit!

That head unit is fine. I have the upper end AVH-X5700BHS for my daily driver Cruze and it's a great head unit. You can pick it up for around $350 on Amazon. The only benefit is a larger touchscreen and Mirrorlink though.

That amp should be fine. Pioneer is solid audio - not the best, but good for the money.

That is NOT the USB cable you need to retain your center console USB port. This is the cable you will need:
Mini-USB to USB at Amazon Link
that cable will allow you to basically extend the USB on the rear of the head unit to the center console.

The scosche is a good kit overall. I randomly get my rear passenger TPMS sensor blinking out and my remote distance is terrible, but I think it's worth it.
