Hey guys, just thought I'd get my 1st post out of the way. I've been a car guy for a long time and part of several forums aligned to those platforms.

Currently I own a 09 CTS-V Sedan that is well built for daily driving use with an A6 and roughly 600 rwhp. The car was recently paid off and I wanted to add something to the pack that really got my heart racing.

My heart was first set on a 997 Turbo, but after a few different test drives of stock ones to BPU ones I knew the platform wasn't for me.

Then I explored the ZR1 but being that I have owned 2 C6 Z06s it felt like it would be like going back to an X-girlfriend. Something about that platform always made me want to leave it. Lack of a trunk and backseats essentially so I moved on to the GTR.

After a few times having the chance to buy well priced (sub 70K) GTRs I realized I just didn't enjoy driving the car. Sure on paper it has everything you would want, AWD, big power, great brakes and a onboard computer system that can make a novice driver like me cut consistent laptimes at MSR I just didn't ENJOY the drive. Which for me is really key..

I grew up on 4th gen F-bodies and something kept telling me the ZL1 wasn't mature enough for me in terms of the driving experience until I drove one...

I just fell in love with the car, the power the handling, the back seats are actually functional and a trunk! All this and the price point of one is lower than any of the other cars I was looking to add. Finally, it is a LSA car and a platform (CTS-V owner) that I have absolutely come to LOVE.

So here are some details on the car I purchased:

13 ZL1 9K miles M6 Silver
Stage III build from Advanced Modern Performance in Arlington
Makes 741 rwhp with stock fuel and a BAP!

I love the car, absolutely love it and I'm proud to own another one of GM's finest. It is one of the best cars I've owned and I've owned a LOT.

Eventually I will sell or buy something on here, but for the most part I lurk so this is my introductory post.

Welcome! Now if o had a Gtr I don't know that I could sell it. Love those cars. But you made a good choice.

you made a great choice that you wont regret. hope u bring it out to eagles canyon raceway this spring. really good course and lots of fun. you will be able to stretch your legs with that modded zl1. ive got a 2013 also that I modded with adm in Lewisville. you will enjoy this site. lots of good people and very informative and helpful

1st question to the ZL1 owners...

My "Performance Menu" only has Volts & Water Temp and some lap timer options.

Did the 14+ get more data in the performance menu? Oil pressure etc?

2nd Question:

My Radio is the bose unit with the big display (not sure if that is standard) but the audio is pretty lack luster. My 09 V has much better audio, is there a known update for that from GM?

3rd Question:

My steering wheel & shifter seem worn for 9K miles, will GM replace it?

Get the DashLogic controller..

Audio is a know weakness in the 5thGen's. At the very least add a sub and upgrade the stock amp.

1st - 14+ got a color DIC and some additional options not in the 13. I've seen some forum members change out there DIC for the color and get the features.

2nd - Take a picture and post. 13+ came with the MyLink and Boston acoustics sound system. It does lack some compared to other factory systems. I know JL does a system for the Camaro to replace stock.

3rd - if you have the suede package, what kind of wear are you seeing? I know a few forum users renew the suede using be bar cleaner and brush. Looks like new afterword. Do a quick search and should pull up.

Thanks, good information. Less about changing it and more about making sure I'm controlling the DIC/Menus correctly.

MyLink with Boston Acoustic is the system that it came with. After talking with a few others, I think my expectations were too high and adding a sub/amp is probably the only way to make it acceptable. I'll get to that later.

The wheel has a wrinkle in the wrap and the shift knob has accelerated wear. Will show to GM soon.
