Z-Batmobile 2
My first 5th gen was a black 2011 LS3 SS nick-named Batmobile. See the thread for how the name got started with my family.
Build Thread here: My first build is here: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=127900 ![]() ![]() My second 5th gen was an ill fated 2013 1LE eventually fitted wih AGP turbos nicknamed Inferno. What is left of the build thread here: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?p=6751829 ![]() I also enjoyed drag racing with my 1LE. My Mustang competition here: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=358442 The ZL1 is a 2015 M6 with Nav, Carbon Scoop, and Recaros. Pics here: ![]() ![]() This is my favorite car ever so far of all the cars I have owned. And there have been many. More to come. I fell a special affinity to the ZL1 As I was one of the first to try and rename the then Z28 to ZL1. Little did I know I would wind up with one some day. I have to say, I wish I would have bought one sooner. The rename left room for the real Z/28. Aren't we glad? http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=114054 Everyone has to have a plan for their car right? I have DRs already. I want to leave it stock this fall then.... Spring 2016 Mild No Tune Mods:
I do plan to stop modding at some point and just enjoy this car. Last edited by Fraxum; 12-30-2015 at 06:23 PM. |

Let the Mods Start
I have lots of Camaro stuff left over from my previous 5th gens. I had not much to do on a Saturday afternoon. Well, stuff I wanted to do anyway. And it was raining off and on. So I decided to spend a couple of hours on some EZ mods, leftover mods. So I picked three I knew would be simple. One surprised me a bit.
1. Exhaust Commander. This one is now hard to replicate as I think the small company who made it is out of business. One reason I chose it is it does not take any power when the car is shut off. It allows you to run NPP in the stock method or allow you to run with the flaps open all the time. Even cooler you can use the EC controller to program your Homelink. So quiet or bad boy is ready at the touch of a button. I forgot to get a pic of this but it takes about 15 minutes to pull the trunk panel out and plug the device into the rear fuse box. Fun mod. 2. BA Amp Upgrade. This is Steve @ ST amp harness and amp plate with a JL Audio 4 channel mini amp that fits right into the stock Amp location. This took all of about 30 minutes to install. I just pulled it out of my 1LE and left all the connections in place. I just pulled the old amp out and made the simple battery connections and then enjoyed the sound. The BA system sounds pretty good stock, but the JL Audio amp gives the music more depth, volume, and bass. Awesome mod. ![]() ![]() 3. GTO Clutch Reservoir. This mod keeps your clutch fluid seperate from your brake fluid. This does two things if you run your car hard, it keeps the fluid that moves the clutch away from the important brake fluid and and brake system. This fluids gets dirty fast due to the Camaro clutch slave design. So this also lets you change out the clutch reservoir fluid often to prevent the dreaded Camaro clutch stuck to the floor syndrome. This mod was the surprise. On my 1LE the stock clutch line was long enough to reach the GTO reservoir. Not so on the ZL1. I had to extend the line. Doing that I found an easy way to get the air out of the line. Simply un-bolt the reservoir and hold it up on an angle and add some brake fluid to the reservoir. That forces out the bubbles nicely. ![]() More to come..... Last edited by Fraxum; 10-08-2015 at 05:01 PM. |

Atco
I do enjoy drag racing. I did pretty good with my 2011 with boltons, 12.3 and not bad with my twin turbo 1LE with a light 10 pounds of boost, 11.4. I think my TT 1LE was capable of very low 11s running 126-7 mph in good air. But my inability to launch with an aftermarket dual disc clutch (on/off), and lack of a two step, and once again mostly my ability I was unable to get the most of my 1LE. Had I upped the fuel pump and added Meth to take me to 14 pounds 10s should have been easy. But we will never know now.
One thing to mention, if you are considering a Centerforce DYAD read this: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=414472 But that is old news now. With my ZL1 I now have a clutch that costs around $350 that can hold pretty big power. And it is very quiet and smooth. I really enjoy my ZL1. I am hoping to get to low 12s stock, but my initial runs at Atco show I have a long way to go. Best time of the night here: ![]() At least every run I made was faster than the last. I need to get my 60' under 2.0. Not easy with a M6 and the stock Goodyears. But it gives me something to work on. I do have DRs, but I want to see what I can do with stock tires first. No lift shifting on the ZL1! You have to get used to that too. Wish me luck.

I'm surprised after not running the times with the m6 on the turbo car, you didn't buy an auto zl1

The ZL1 is still running 12.6es but now at 116 mph now that I am starting to get the hang of no lift shifting. So it definitely is a faster car. Next I am bolting on the DRs and hope to go low 12s stock. I think I can beat that 12.3. We shall see.

Nice, why did you get rid of the TT 1LE?

I let a friend (Mustang Driver) drive it around the Millville, NJ Motorsports Lightning track. On the first turn he put it shiny side down. Luckily he was okay, but the 1LE was toast. Mustang drivers cannot handle fast Camaros. Lesson learned.

Wow, that must've really sucked seeing your car destroyed by someone else.

Next year DRs will be my every day tire. I am going to mount them on the stock 20s. Tired of swapping back and forth. The ZL1 overpowers the Goodyears even in warm weather.

Due to Stabiltrac problems GM is buying back this car. Sorry to see it go.
![]() Moving on to a 2016 Camaro SS...... I will put a link here once I get going with it.

Sorry to say but this thread ends.
Due to unfixable Stabilitrac problems GM bought back my ZL1. This took 4 months. While I regret losing the ZL1 I do really like my new '16 SS. It is a different car than the 5th gen. I would characterize it as more modern and sporty as opposed to the muscle car feel of the 5th gen. While I enjoyed all of my 5th gens, I think the sixth gen Camaro is more me. A sports car with a small block Chevy. Like a fist in a velvet glove.
