Give thanks to a soldier today.......

Just had a thought......if you have the chance, thank a soldier or a vet for their service today. Buy someone lunch, or just do something nice for a soldier. 9-11 was a horrible day for many families and I hope we will always remember them in our hearts. A big salute goes out to all soldiers and their families, past and present, for their sacrifice and their willingness to fight for our great country. It is because of them that we are able to drive around in our dream cars whatever that may be. My wife and brother are deployed right now and I pray everyday that they will come home safe, as well as the rest of our brothers and sisters serving. Hope we all appreciate our troops, even those of us against the war.

Please thank your family for serving! One of my sons is in Iraq right now and will return next month, God willing. The lunch idea is great! I did that one day at the Houston Airport. We had just sat down to lunch and a soldier was just finishing up behind us. I told his waitress to give me his bill, but not to tell him who paid it. He had a great look on his face as he looked around the eatry to try to figure it out, but never knew who did it. I loved it! I know it was a small thing compared to what they do, but he appreciated it!

I remember the day, waiting on the call.....

Sitting in my office, as the first tower was hit, co-workers ran to my office and turned on my TV. As we sat and watched, the second tower was hit......at that moment, I began to cry............I knew the call was coming. And shortly after, it did, "Mom, first, I love you.........we are on stand-by" (I cry even now). So, the 101st Airborne Division prepared to depart, and over the next month, their first tour began.....and my son served two tours, one in Afghanistan and the second at the fall of Iraq. I was proud of him then and always!

To all that lost loved ones, I cannot know your pain, but I am with you in prayer.

To those who served or had a family member or friends serve, and to those who still do, my deepest thanks now and forever!

Everybody remembers what they were doing exactly when the terrorists struck on 9/11. It was a day that changed America. I will always remember the people that were lost on that day and I am thankful for the troops that are out there protecting our way of life wherever they are!

Was in the Navy during 9/11 on the boat getting ready for a meeting ashore. I left to go to my meeting and heard on the radio that the pentagon was hit. Figured I could skip the meeting. Got back just in time before they closed the base. We watched the whole thing on TV and as news cam in found out that we were going to be on a four hour tether (ship has four hours to pull out once the call comes in) Once we went on the tether, they pulled all unnecessary shore lines meaning we had no TV and no news of what was happening. They let us off the ship to go get enough uniforms for a six month deployment. On my way to get my stuff, I called my dad. He told me there was action in Afghanistan. I was psyched. I was ready to go over there and kick some ass. Then I realized my meeting was in preparations to be discharged. My six years of service had come to an end. A day I had been looking forward to for a long time had come and all I wanted to do was reenlist. I ended up not being able to though and got out. Although, it may have been a great thing for me in hind sight, it's something I still regret.

My brother is a marine and has done two tours in Iraq. I'm so proud of him at times it brings me to tears. He had a hard time over there and still battles issues with it today.

I'm saying all of this because I don't want people to think that servicemen are/were over there indifferently or with apathy. All the guys and gals I've known have been proud and eager to do their part. I salute all who are now serving or have served at any point in time for defending my freedom. Your sacrifices however large or small are cherished by a great many people.

Thanks

thanks to all who dedicate there lives to this great country in ways some of us can only imagine by serving in the armed forces.

We were all affected that day and the days after in one way or another. Some more deeply than others and those I will never forget and stop thinking about.....I wish my son Happy birthday on this day and I remember all those a little more as I give him a hug and know I am very thankful.

Keep those babies in the Air...

My retirement flag was flow on a B-2 Stealth bomber on a bomb drop over Tora Bora... Almost got that bastard...

Hats off to the Heros who lost their lives saving others in NYC...

Not to step on any toes, but shouldn't 9/11 be a day for remembering the police, firefighters, and innocent civilians who died that day instead?
