Cancelled my order today!!

I called to ask my dealer what the constraint has done for the time frame of my car. He said "It still looks ok I guess." So I asked him how many SS were in front of my order. He said "A few I guess" So then I was like well I asked you if we could make a November delivery. He said "It looks like we may be able to get a build date by November maybe, I should be able to tell you sometime in October for sure." I was like what the hell!!! I was very angry. So I asked him how many allocations he got this month. He said "I don't really know, but they still look to be on schedule."

At that point I just said whatever and said goodbye. I went and told my wife I am canceling my order from this dealer who cannot even give me a straight answer and ordering from someone who has an allocation open. The only reason I ordered from this dealer is because they said I would have my car by November, and that they would honor the supplier pricing. I should have known something wasn't right when I placed my order and had to bug them for 2 weeks just to get my workbench.

So as of this afternoon I have reordered with another dealer further North of me who had an open allocation and should have my car in 8-10 weeks. And since that county has cheaper sales tax I will only be paying about $500.00 more total. Lesson learned I guess.

I hired and fired two dealers before settling on a third. Amazing the lying, deception, and very poor customer service I encountered with GM dealers.

My Camaro was my first GM car - I've been an import buyer for 30 years. I have never had a disappointing dealership experience with an import. If I didn't absolutely want to buy a Camaro, I would never, ever set foot in a GM dealership again.

To be honest, GM does need to close about 50% of their dealerships. They need to weed-out the underperforming losers.

You are lucky that it works that way where you live. In Georgia it doesn't matter where you buy a car from, you have to pay the sales tax based on the zip code where you live. I have even purchased cars from out of state, but still had to pay sales tax based on the zip code where I live.

Yea, I wnet through Several phonecalls with Dealers weeding out BS and before I found a dealer that actually had allocation this month for the Car I wanted... Lot of them said they did but when I asked "So you will be able to give me the order number like NNDJG on Thursday when GM picks up the order...Right" Most would give the " Well UMM, You See..." So I knew they were full of it and did not have allocation...

I did a lot of Homework reading here on the pitfalls from folks ordering Wows on the Forum! Huge Help!

I wanted a 2SS/RS 6-Speed Manual which I guess is hard to get allocation for...?

But I found a dealer that said...Yep I give you the GM Order number this week and you will have your car in 10 weeks.

I ordered the car on Aug 10th. A little over a month ago and my Car is Built and on a Train in Transit as I type... Should be here in 5-7 Days dealer said today... So its going to be more like 7 weeks for mwhen I ordered!!! SO the homework I did before I orderd has paid off Greatly!

I can't Tell you on the tracking threads that I saw my car ahead of folks that said they ordered their car in May-Jun...Even some as early as Mar-Apr... Crazy...

It was Brent Brown in Provo. I placed my order with them on Aug 21st. I really don't want to throw them under the bus because they were very nice. They just couldn't deliver in the time frame I was told. And when I couldn't get an honest answer to any of my questions. I felt as though they were just stringing me along, and that I needed to go elsewhere.

Glad you changed dealers, its a shame they are not all on the same page. My wait was as long as any but the result is sure worth it.

I consider myself lucky my dealer treated me like gold,
gave me any info I asked for. At delivery he didn't have the license
plate bracket or the dealer decal put on.
He gave me every piece of paper work he could find in the car
he printed out the entire workbench sheet from order to delivery,
2 build sheets, gate passes and a Camaro traveller sheet.
Not to mention the windshield sticker
Car was ordered on 6/6 delivered 9/4
I can now understand why they have such a good reputation
Even let my test drive a Roush Mustang they had at the Ford
store they have, not for me, 52,000.00 sticker

Your lucky, in Florida the sales tax is based off the county where you live. The county I'm in has a 1 cent extra in sales tax, and when you get your tags they will nab you for the difference ..... LOL... Just can't win sometimes ...

Pearldrums: Check out John Watson Chevrolet in Riverdale. That's who i have gone with and they have been fantastic and very open with me (like with how many allocations they have, expected time frames, etc). Not to mention Corey, the new car sales dude is the only one you work with and he knows his stuff inside and out. I've been very pleased. They honor supplier pricing and sell at MSRP, unlike a dealership in Tooele I visited...

you're paying sales tax wherever you register the car.
