COLORS THROUGH 44,600 CAMAROS

I did a color search on the CAMARO DATABASE to see which colors are the most popular to date. It only took a few minutes to get the following info on the first 44,600 Camaros:
BLACK........... 10840
ORANGE......... 5583
SILVER.......... 5487
VICTORY RED.... 5260
YELLOW......... 4798
CYBER GRAY.... 3266
RED JEWEL..... 3226;
RED JEWEL...... (PREMIUM "?"... 23)
IMPERIAL BLUE.. 2219
AQUA BLUE....... 2061
SUMMIT WHITE.. 1835
I can see why aqua blue is being dumped, black is the most comon but does anyone know what RJT "PREMIUM" is at only 23 units ?.

Interesting. I would like to know what that "premium" is too.

Where is this "CAMARO DATABASE"? Does it tell you how many had X package or option as well or just colors, trans, etc.,?

After seeing the Ultimate Factories show on TV I'm frankly surprised GM isn't offering car colors like what you would you can do with paint at Home Depot... That GM paint booth had the ability to paint any of the offered colors in any order, one right behind the next... so why concern themselves with limiting the colors to just 9 even?? Why not??

What would be interesting is how they purge the lines to keep one color from running over into another.

I know if you look through some paint catalogs at an automotive paint shop, the same color can have different codes as to how late in the year it was painted presumably taking into account some other previously used colors contaminating the system.

I think 9 colors are more than enough, and it is a little too much to expect a company trying to re-birth itself to accommodate an infinite variety of colors

A good point... I suppose it costs money to keep the paint stored somehow? So it would be more cost effective to only use colors that are going through to production on a regular basis Just speculation there.

I have seen 5 seperate RJM here in SE michigan and believe there was two in Oshawa. One person couldn't have seen 7 of 23 in the past 5 months.

I just had this exchange with GM re; Red Jewel color. Its a cool IM system they have up at their web site...

Welcome to Chevrolet.com. Please wait while we find an agent to assist you...
You have been connected to Linda M.
Linda M: Hi! How may I help you?
dennis: Is there a Red Jewel Tintcoat premium color that is different from regular Red Jewel?
Linda M: Which vehicle are you looking at?
dennis: 2010 Camaro
Linda M: One moment and I will research that for you.
dennis: ok
Linda M: Yes, the Red Jewel Tintcoat premium paint is available on the LT and LS models. That color is available at an additional charge since it is a premium paint.
Linda M: I apologize, I meant the LT and SS models. Sorry about that.
dennis: Can you tell me if its a multi-application color, meaning it takes a color base plus another coat - that makes it a premium color?
Linda M: One moment.
Linda M: A TintCoat is the primary color with a tinted clear coat and they are available at an additional charge because they require additional steps in the paint process.
dennis: Thank you for your help.
Linda M: My pleasure. Is there anything else I can assist you with today?
dennis: No thank you.
Linda M: Thanks for visiting Chevrolet.com! Have a great weekend!

*This is what I thought, since I had Red Jewel Tintcoat painted for my stripes and the paint shop charged me a bit more since it was a multi-step process.

The ABM is a great color and one of my top choices; Hate to see it go.

I've ordered vehicles from Chevrolet twice with colors that were not in the brochures; There was no extra charge, and it didn't seem to bother them at all.

They were both Chevy colors, just not offered on that particular model those years (but it was a few years back... '76 and '78).

Interesting that IBM isn't even 200 cars ahead of ABM. Maybe they both should get the axe for a blue that is in between, like jetstream? Or the G8 Stryker blue?

Did you ask them when the Z28 was coming out???.........LOL!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe they will give you answers as to what difference the pistons are between the LS3 and L99..............probably not get an answer, but would be really neat to find out what info the DO have

I had thought that they might be the 23 Dr. Pepper Camaros, but I guess not, given that they're mostly SS models.
