Anyone ordered or bought from a dealer that has since closed? Problems?

I'm at 3400. Still waiting. Some glum faces at my dealership and very low inventory. Two other dealers in the area recently lost thier GM franchise. Heard that there was a grace period to Oct 2010 for most of the dealerships that are on the 1st "Hit List". Don't know for sure but I would bet my dealer is on that list.

Yeah, I know. But they yanked away 2 area dealers early because they sued. So I heard. Susan Shein Chevy was one. It was in the newspaper.

If the dealer has the car on order they didn't get the closure letter from GM. If they close it will be because of other reasons. All of the dealers that received notices to close from GM were not allocated any 2010 product to order.

If they are not lying to you and did not get the closure letter you should be ok. Now the dealer could be closing up if they are broke. Which if everyone has sad faces and no lot inventory it does not sound good.

Yeah, They may be going under for sure. Car is suppossed to be here by Dec 5 give or take a few days according to salesman. Hopefully, everythingg will be OK.

We had 2 GM dealers in town, one Chevy the other GMC. The family owned Chevy dealer recently closed because the "kids" didn't want to run it anymore. I got a flier from the GMC dealer saying they had lost their franchise and will be holding a rally tomorrow to try and stay open. I think I'm going to go. I don't want to have to drive 30 miles for service.

This is way of topic but loosely related.

We had a Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep dealership that opened 12 months after "Dodges" first car was released back in 1914 and had been previously selling carriages, buggies, sleighs and wagons when they opened in 1910. Long story short Chrysler took their franchise away this past spring. Pretty sad if you ask me as they have been selling and servicing their product for almost 100 years with relatively good turnover. That's all, I'm sure GM has done the same thing along the lines, these are businesses after all but it's still a bit saddening.

There are many dealers in our area. (That's the problem.) And many a lot closer. I liked the salesman here. He is very knowledgable about the Camaros. I ain't worried about getting another dealer to service it. Just kinda saddened by what I see happening to some of the dealerships and hope it does'nt happen to mine.

My dealer closed a week after I took delivery. That was close.

GM needs to "cull the herd" Just too many sellers out there. That might be the cause of the greedy price gouging by some, they see the writing on the wall, so get all you can before GM gives you the boot.
