Recalling 22,000 Corvettes Model Year 2005-2007

On tonight’s news they said that GM is recalling all two piece hardtop corvettes due to a problem with the adhesive that holds the roof with the cars body frame...just felt like sharing the news cuz some members here might be owners of a corvette with the two piece hardtop.

Heres a link check it out

This is good information for those who may need it. I also see that a reflash may be necessary for the same vehicles.

Ancient issue. It's just that NHTSA is forcing a recall now, to insure all units are repaired before more roofs fly off in traffic.

Well, not technically. The issue has been known for quite some time, but this looks to be the official recall. So, no biggie

this is another recall.

GM recalled some 30,000 vettes back in 06 for this. they replaced the adhesive with an adhesive foam. which doesnt seem to be holding up very well.

You are very correct my friend!!! Now they better get going on fixing the car "nannies" such as the active handing/traction control...As you most likely know there are some real issues with the AH taking control for no reason and pulling the car right or just locking up the right front tire which pulls you dead right with no warning...Hot issue right now over on the vette forum...Don't get me wrong...I love GM and always will support them but this issue is getting old with no action by GM...Nation Safety organizations are slowly getting involved but slowly is the key word...
Still love GM though!!!!

My buddy just picked up a used 06 Z06 with 62 miles. Two days before he went to pick it up the owner took it out for a two mile spin and the roof came off at 20MPH. Not a big deal though since the local Chevy dealer send someone out to the guys house and ordered a new carbon fiber roof for it.

What are the home brew guys doing??? rivits, welds, Fm104 stickers?

Glueing the roof on doesn't sound smart in any case, let alone a car that can get up a gitty.

Least my 3rd gen roof is held on tight with 4 factory braze welds
