why a model year 2010?

Can some one inform me what the new Camaro is considered a 2010 model when it is coming out in 2009?

I am sure this is going to mess up things down the road.

Because the 2009 models were released in 2008.

Actually, I believe their intentions were for an extended initial production year run (18 months as a 2010, instead of 6 as a 2009). This would allow for more people to buy a first year 5th Gen Camaro for collectability reasons.

So that all us early birds can get rewarded when we trade in our 2 year old 2SS car and get a 1 year old valuation towards the new 2011 LS7 Z/28.

Manufacturing plants start building the next model year in october/september of the previous year( 2009's are being built right now). Instead of having a run of 6-7 months for a model year they are just adding those to the next.

Kinda like they did with the 84 Corvette. They started that year early. There weren't any 83 Corvettes.

God, I'd fall over if I got a 2SS only to have a force fed beast come out the following year. The only way I wouldn't drop dead is if it were starting MSRP at $45,000.
