Just Lost My Rear...

Rear End Went tonight. Grabing a hard second gear.

Not Blaming the rear cause of the Mods but I haven't heard of any going out, even under extreme conditions. Track with gummies etc. This was on street tires on a back road. Limped it home ...but not good. Both halve shafts are still in good shape or at least appear to be...Thought they were the weak link.
Smells like burned up gear lube when I got home.

Anybody got any suggestions for beefing up a 2010 Camaro Rear end ?
I am in the market...Obviously the factory set up aint going to make it.

Don't think I will even ask the dealer about warranty under the circumstances....LOL

For axles, Contact Chris at GForce1320 or Hendrix.
For the centersection the alternatives are not available quite yet, but within the next 30 days or so there should be both a 12 bolt replacement and maybe even a 9".

This is the first that I have heard of this. There are 1000RWHP cars with slicks that have not broken the rear end yet. Maybe they were all auto's and dont take the shock as bad but still. I am sorry man. I cant believe the rear end went before the stock axles, on street tires to boot. I think it might be 1 of those freak occurances.

Blows my mind as well....

I though axles maybe....

But with street tires I felt pretty comfortable there as well. Go figure.

Wasn't even a clutch dump It was a hard second gear....was just running it through the gears wasn't babying it but wasnt doing a burn out or anything.

I guess i will find out when I get it a part tomorrow but it sure feels like a pinion geer and I am positive its in the rear end I confirmed that...Growling like a big dog !

I will say that this car hooks up like no other I have ever owned. I have the factory 21's Perellis the car has been lowered and I don't know if that helps as far as hooking goes but with 570 RWHP and over 540 Ft Lbs of Torque at the rear wheels I would expect nothing but smoke but that aint the case. It just squats and goes...In this case squats and clunks and then its sing the blues as I milk her home.

Such is life but I hate to put another stock rear in, than I will be parinoid all the time.

Well I don't know if it will help, but if you contact Chris at GForce1320 he may still have my factory differential there. Maybe you could use it or some parts from it. The only difference is that it was an L99, therefore it has 3.27 gears.

I know Jannetty Racing is doing a mod to the rear end now... They found a problem with them spinning just one wheel when they have the extra horsepower add ons... Not sure what they are doing to fix it, but I saw a thread about a fix they are doing every time they put the lower gears in them now.

Edit: Here is the link: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=88108

The 21's are a honking heavy set up. That may have contributed to tje failure.
I'd see what Ted over at Jannetty has to offer. He seems to think the stock set up is pretty beefy and just needs some tweaking.
Let us know what you find out failed.

Will do should know today. With the factory ( Original 20's) Rims and tires they would go up in smoke all day long. Even before I uped the Boost.
But since I put the 21's on they stick like glue. Not complaining but like I said wasn't even a clutch dump. Just a good hard run through what ended up being first and second.

Hope there is parts available,,,,

Did you say 9"? I can't believe we still need a ford part to make our cars stronger.

Unfortunately...Shafts, Axles, Trannies ain't my problem. Its a blown and squashed pumkin.

I am pretty sure everything inside is a mess. Considering The HP even my very generous dealer ( Replaced my tranny already) might push back a litlle on this one. We will see but I wont blame him on this one unfortunately.

You start changin things and it throws everything else outa whack...Been down this road before. Part of the way it all works...Pay to play baby Pay to play.

Kind of funny you said that about the 9" diff. In the latest issue of Chevy High Performance they were saying that everyone still thinks of the 9" as a Ford part, but it's not. Currie, Alston, Williams, Strange, Moser, etc. all make their own 9". It is just an accepted design. The Ford version is not even in the same ballpark with regards to strength as the aftermarket. So don't feel too bad, it's not really a Ford part.

The fabricated 12 bolt will be the preferred diff if they can get it done. If not, the 9" would be a back up plan.

Having that happen at the track the dealership wont touch it under warranty. U can call them be honest and tell them what happened but be prepared for the worst.
