1LT or 2LT
Hey guys, my parents are now thinking of letting me have a camaro for college, and for how much they are willing to spend, along with as much money as I have, I built 2 versions of what I can get for either model. I just wanted to know which one you guys would choose. Both are V6's.
1LT (with RS package): Convenience and connectivity Package RS Package 6-Speed Automatic Boston sound system Audio system feature, usb port steering whell controls, mounted audio controls 2LT (without RS package): Interior Accent trim package 6 Speed Automatic and the standard accessories. Overall, I want to know which you guys would choose and why. Also, if I get an RS package, what would be some good all seasons to get without breaking the bank? thanks |

I love the RS package because of the better tires and wheels (and the governor will be set to 155 vs 120ish as a result of tires). The RS has a bunch of useful upgrades; that being said, I like the leather and the retro middle console gagues in my 2LT also. I had to choose to upgrade to 2LT with RS personally, but, I can't really decide that for you.

what do you mean by: "the governor will be set to 155 vs 120ish as a result of tires"?
Also, I might consider the RS on the 2LT. I'm just worried that the price of the wheels will make it too much for me. I really like the halo lights, but paying 3k (for the pack and the wheels since I live in NY) is a bit too much imo, when I can get the gauges (not that I need them, they just look friggin cool) and the awesome inferno interior leather seats. Still, all opinions are welcome! thanks |

Hey, don't forget that the LS is a great car, too. Especially if it is going to be sitting at college. All the goodies are fun, but you could easily argue that the base model is the best "bang for your buck."
1LT with upgrades puts you really close to the 2LT, but with cloth instead of leather. The way you have them described you just need to decide whether you have a preference for cloth, halos and the spoiler...or leather and the 4-pack of gauges. Just to make things a bit tougher, here are a couple more thoughts..... 1) You can add AAC halos and the spoiler after-market, giving the 2LT some of the key features of the RS package. 2) The summer-only Pirelli tires in the RS package should not be considered for year-round use in New York, can't be rotated, and cost about $410 each (plus installation/fees) to replace. Short life and no rotation means you will be replacing these often (every1-2 years), at close to $1800 each time. That is a LOT of cash. Leather, fancy stereo, halos, expensive summer-only tires are things I can afford now. But in my college days, a more basic hot car would have been more than enough for me. But what do I know, I drove a '68 VW bug.

just remember that 1LT doesn't come with the 4pack gauges, or leather, or interior ambient lighting...hmm anything else?? Of your two choices, I would go with 2LT, but also keep in mind that the RS package is only an extra $1500 for the 2LT, so personally i like the 2LT RS...

The speed rating on the Pirelli's that come with the RS package is high enough that the governor is set to 155 on a RS. Non-RS, because of the tire speed rating, governed at 115.
Pitch them the 2LT, then have a back up bare bones 1LT. I have 1LT, non-RS with C & C. You can save (your parents) a lot of money by doing this. Either way, sounds like your getting one!

Well, I'm still going to consider both setups.
Also, does anyone know of any good and reliable aftermarket halo lights? I've remember seeing this link on the forum before: http://www.automotivelightstore.com/...letcamaro.aspx Are any lights on that site reliable, or are there some better ones somewhere else? thanks |

If I was gonna get the V6 I would have to get the RS package for the wheels and spoiler... Huge improvement on this car IMHO.

I'd like it too, if I lived where it doesn't get cold, but I live in NY so its not really the best option imo. I would get it if they came with all seasons. Man, why doesn't GM offer a choice of wheels? It would only be common sense.

I thought they looked good. Does anyone have any of their products that can tell me how well they work?
Also, I'm thinking of getting a black camaro, and I think the red halos would be awesome. http://www.automotivelightstore.com/...allcolors.aspx |

2LT with RS and you have everything you want. Barring that I would get the 2LT for the stereo and the gauge package at least. I am doing a 2LT with RS myself. Hit status 3300 today!
