Wanting to Install Bowtie LED a different way

I've just sent off for AAC to add the green LEDs to my bowtie. It's not back yet, but in the meantime, I need installation instructions.

I want to wire the bowtie so that when I press the brake, the LEDs turn off. Otherwise, I either want the bowtie on when the headlights are on or (this is first preference), if that's not possible, then on all the time (second preference).

So.. How would I go about wiring the bowtie up so that it turns off when brakes are pressed? Is it possible to have it on only when the headlights are on and also go off when the brakes are pressed?

I found this thread: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=74632 that explains how to get to the wires for the 3rd brakelight. Will I need to wire the bowtie to that? Then what after that?

Please explain like I'm 4. I don't understand schematics, but I can follow step by step instructions.

Talk to AAC, when your ordered the bowtie, there is an option that will have the bowtie on ALL the time, but when you step on the brake is it gets BRIGHT......just like your third brake light. if thats what you want, call them up, and its not been shipped yet, they can modify your order and make it happen for ya.

That's not what I want.

Option 1: I want the bowtie on with headlights, when the brake is pressed, I want the bowtie OFF.

Option 2: I want the bowtie on all the time, when the brake is pressed, I want the bowtie OFF.

Anita,

Talk to Rick, he installed his own and his Lighted Bowtie goes OFF when he steps on the Brake Pedal.

Option 1: you will want to tap into the parking light wire on one of the tail lights. Similar as if you were wiring in AAC's afterburner halos. Then you would need a 5 pin relay that was wired into the break light so that when the relay is tripped (you stepping on the brake pedal) the circuit gets broken and the bowtie turns off. I can draw you up a diagram if you'd like.

Option 2: same as option 1 but you tap into a 12v source instead of the parking light wire.

For Stieger,

This is what I have at the taillights. Is it right so far?

Where does the negative wire from the bowtie go? and the negative wire from the third brake light- Where does it go?

That's a great pic you took and should help get you an answer you want but why would you want the bowtie to go off on the braking?? I don't get it.

If it does not do the dual intensity with the 3rd brake light like the option they offer and is just "regular" lit up..why would you want not want it to light up normal strength?

I don't think bright red brake lights and a bright green bow tie would look good together. Too much, red and green together.
