I think some of these company's are high on glue to think they should charge over $800.00 bucks for thier exhaust. Who are they trying to kid? I guess all of you that actually paid it. If everybody stopped paying thier high prices then im sure they would drop thier prices in a hurry. These companies that are charging a fortune ($1300.00 - $1800.00+) just dont get it. Why sell 10 systems for $1600.00, when they could drop the pricing to lets say $800.00 and sell 100 systems. And make more money at a lower price. Why do you think stores like Walmart are taking over.

I just installed a Flowmaster American Thunder catback system on my ride for $659.00...Flowmaster gets it..As im sure thats why they sell so many units compared to other company's.

I'll be installing the Flowmaster American Thunder catback system. The best price I have seen is right around $660 shipped. I have listened to all the video clips that have been posted and to my ears the Flowmaster sounds best, a true deep muscle car sound. The Borla and Corsa sound is to european sounding (tinny and raspy). Regardless of price the Flowmaster sounds best to me.

Agree 100% about these prices. If I were to buy the Flowmasters I'd have a complete exhaust system with LT headers for a grand total of $1,800. Most people are paying $2,500+ for the same setup and same HP.

I would have bought a catback 5 months ago if the prices were good, but I refuse to overpay for something. I didn't pay a mark-up on my car and I won't for any performance parts either. Now there a few more options, SOLO makes a nice exhaust too....hopefully more to come.

Corsa comes with X-pipe... probably looking at 25 hp gain.

Saved money

I'm not sure how comparable it is to the exhaust packages on the market but I had my local muffler shop remove the factory mufflers and resonators, cut in an X pipe and install a pair of 4" Magnaflow Magnapac mufflers for considerably less than the package prices. He was able to use some of the existing piping which helped on the cost as well. It sounds great and it fit my budget. Here are a few pics...

I think there is a simple underlying principle, the consumers desire for maximum total utility. The product is new to the market the consumers marginal utility is very high, creating a right ward shift in the consumer preference function, then add in low supply and high demand, (over 50,000 camaros are out now) and you will have a slightly higher price/ market strategy.

Pricing will lower over time, as all items do, simple economics. The Japanese really started this trending, of start high and then run promos are marginal utility diminishes to create better profits and sales volumes. Look at cell phones for example.

Now don't also forget material prices are also not what they used to be .

If you have an exhaust in mind I would be happy to quote you with a market competitive price!

Regards

muffler delete and use the rest for cold air kit. Sounds just as good as all the over priced kits.

There's a lot of time and R&D put into these systems, and if you want to first on the block then you get to help pay for all that time spent. Prices will drop in time. This is how it's been for parts on any new car and how it probably always will be. Headers for the LS1 f-bodies were ~1500 or more when they first came out, but within a few years they were down to half that.
