Finally gave her the detail she needed

The car is now 3 months old, but finally gave it a proper detail. Wanted to take a few pictures after I was done, as well as mess with the macro lens. The dealer did a number on it with their washes. The car DESPERATELY needs a polish job, this is why I avoided any 'flash' shots showing the paint quality.

For the detail I did the following:
Exterior:
  • 2-Bucket wash (Megs gold class), Leaf blower + MF towel to dry
  • Sonax on wheels, forgot to try out my Tuf Shine on tires
  • Mothers clay (used the QD that came w/ the clay, smelled cinnamon like)
  • Wolfgang Paint Sealant 3.0 (after I wiped it off, I had to wait 12 hours to apply the wax)
  • Pinnacle Souveran Wax
  • "Gummi Pfledge" on Weather stripping and rubber parts
  • Sprayway Glass cleaner on windows/mirrors

Interior:
  • Dusted off vents/stereo displays
  • Vacuum
  • Vinylex on pretty much everything in the car
  • Lexol Leather Cleaner then Conditioner on the seat inserts
  • Sprayway Glass cleaner on windows/mirror

Enjoy the pics!

I may be one of the few that doesn't mind the Gold bowtie, maybe it's the texturing:

Yes, it's an SS:

Hides the swirlies from these angles:

Love the hips on this car...reminds me of my old 944:

Transformer-esque:

Can you guess what this is?:

The car:

Thanks! Yea souveran looks great! Need to work on my techniques for all those steps though.

Any suggestions on what type of polish/pad combo's to use on a newish paint like this car?

Best advice is to always start with the least aggressive method needed to achieve your desired results.
Then patience is key.
95% of the final result is contingent on how you polished the car.
I've been Detailing for over 20 yrs. My methods might not be what's best for you. For example most of my work is done with a Rotary buffer. I would not recommend that for a beginner. But it does yield the very best results.
PM me for my number if you would like better advice.

Looks great!

QQ: If some of us don't own an orbital buffer or such...is there advice for getting good results by hand?

I get the best results from Megs 105 by hand. You will need to finish with Megs 205 or Ultrafina afterwards. But I can take 2500 sanding marks out by hand with it.

I do also have the option of a trade with a friend to trade my Allen & Heath Xone 1D for a PC, backing plate, and some pads...I may just do that.

It's where the front hood meets the front bumper in the center.
