Remounting Engine Cover?
Was wondering if anyone had in pics of exactly what the engine cover clips to, this may sound dumb but we took it off to paint and can't figure it out. Now while it was being painted I had engine work done so we are wondering if something is missing to mount to. I have the fast intake manifold but i thought it was suppose to work with engine covers so not sure what the prob is. It looks great and it would be a shame if i can't get it to fit now.

There is a plastic piece that runs across the engine in the back that the cover sort of clips to. If they removed it to do engine work, they might have forgotten to put it back on. That's the only thing I can think of that would be missing and I think it is the only thing that attaches the cover to the engine. I had a custom roto-fab cover done for mine and I did the install a few weeks ago so that's what I'm going off of. Hope it helps.

Any pics? I have a message to the people who did the work see if they know anything. I am hoping the new manifold isn't the problem, the way fast describes it, it should be ok.

Sorry, like I said I don't even have mine on anymore. Roto-fab has a completely different setup. But check your engine right now. You will see a black plastic piece going over the engine shroud (not the fuel line). It looks like a hatched (x's) piece with what I would call "hooks" on it. It is toward the windshield part of the engine. It will be fairly obvious, since it would sit higher than anything else to hold the cover. If you don't see that, I'd say there's your answer.

Here is a pic of a broken mounting clip on a brand new engine cover I got from GM. (GM has replaced it with a good one)
The cover has 2 of these on the back underside edge of the cover. These are very fragile and can easily snap if you rest the cover on them on the floor. If you look at your engine without the cover, you will see where the 2 clips snap onto. Also, if I recall correctly, on the underside of the engine cover, you will see another similar clip that snap on the passenger side fuel rail. The only thing that mainly holds the cover down is the oil filler cap! If you tug on the cover when it is mounted, you can see/feel that driver side comes up pretty easily. Check to see those back clips are not broken off. I hope the pic helps. [IMG] [/IMG]

Clips are fine i will check for the back piece of engine tomorrow, i can see where it would mount to fuel rail up front, back is the area that had us puzzled. I hope I can get it to work it looks so good.
