HDR Software

What software do you all recommend for hdr photography? I have Corel Paint Shop Pro X2 and the hdr tool doesn't allow much control other than brightness. Thanks in advance!

Thanks! You have some great pics! I'll be getting the program soon! What camera do you use, if you don't mind me asking? I'll be getting a dslr to replace my point-and-shoot, also.

Thanks! I use a canon 50D, with the kit lense 28mm-135mm 3.5-5.6. I don't have any other lenses, but plan on getting a low-light 50mm, 18mm wide-angle, 180mm macro, and a nice telephoto.

I would recommend you don't go out and buy the most expensive camera you can afford. Lenses are much more important than camera body. Most of the nicer cameras have features you'd never use, so you'd essentially be throwing away potential lens money.

If you want a nicer camera, don't go any higher than semi-pro. Basically, for canon 7D, and Nikon's D90. Pentax makes good camera's too, so check out their k-7. Pentax are backwards compatible with ALL their old lenses. My buddy has a collection of about 20 lenses, only because they are inexpensive. The lenses are all used, and some as old as 30 years, but they all still work.

I haven't really kept up with the camera market, so there's probably new cameras out there. Do your research before you buy, and you should be good.

The programs I use are Lightroom 3 MAINLY, some photoshop CS5 for the occasional fix-up (I'm no master at PS...yet), and photomatix for HDR's.

Good luck, and I'll be waiting to see your photos!

Also, just so you know, I used photoshop and lightroom to touch up those HDR's, and edit them to my liking.

And take note that HDR processing creates alot of noise, so you need a noise reducer. You don't really NEED a noise reducer, but it helps. LR, and PS have inbuilt Noise reducers. If you want a professional noise reducer, go with Imagenomic Noiseware. It was gifted to us by the photo gods! :P

A REALLY good HDR site to check out

That site taught me alot!

I have that site bookmarked! I read through it this past weekend! The cameras I've been looking at are the Nikon D3000 or the Canon Rebel XS. They are not too expensive, but still manage to take some great photos. As long as the camera can take RAW photos, I'll consider it! Thanks again for your help!

I use a rebel T1I and use PS CS5 was lucking and got 80% off PS so i took the offer lol. The best thing to do with HDR is take several photos with different exposure levels and merge them that way.

Photomatix is the best for multi image HDR. I'm currently shooting with (1) 5DMKII, (1) 1DsMKIII, (1) 50D, (1) XSi and G10. Photography is a great hobby.
