I couldn't wait for a ZL1

After a few months of painfully slow highway merges, I gave up on daily driving my (temporary) Cobalt. It was just too damned boring for me.

I still want the ZL1, but I figured 550+HP and a 6-spd might be a bit too large of a jump for me. I figured I would get a transition car in the meantime, keep that for a few years and then trade in for a barely-used ZL1. But then I went and overdid myself for a "transition" car:

Not gonna lie, I'm pretty happy with it. It's an '08 2LT (base coupe, but it's still a CORVETTE) with only 8,500km, and of course a 6-spd. It was advertised as a 3LT but turned out was only a 2LT, and so I didn't get the HUD I really wanted after getting rid of my '04 GTP. But after I drove it I didn't care, so I bought it anyways.

So I got the car Wednesday, and ordered the OEM HUD kit + custom wiring harness from a site in the US recommended on some Corvette forums, and they shipped it out that night. I'll have to take apart the whole front interior of the car to install it, and to be honest that does scare me a little bit. I can take the targa off on a nice sunny day and get it done hopefully in an afternoon.

It's got the Corsa exhaust option that was replaced in later model years by the dual-mode homemade option, and it sounds sweet. After I get the HUD installed, I'll be adding a CAI and then tinting the windows. I'm not sure yet if I want to do much more to it than that, though. It's a hell of a ride.

I have been waiting for the rain to stop here in southern Ontario so I can get some more pics.

Thor (if I may call you that)

You sound like a smart person, and know what you want.
I say you made a logical move, and the purchase of your vette is amazing .
Keep your faith, you will have a ZL1 one day, to compliment the vette, in the mean time enjoy your new ride.

I had my Cobalt put away and won't get it back until around October. I can't park in the driveway now because the entire road has been ripped up for the city to install new water pipes along the road. It's all dirt and I wouldn't even dare trying to drive on it - there have been pickups getting stuck in it trying to get to their driveways. So my car is actually street-parked on a street I can't even see, a few minutes walk from the house. Scary thought?

Every morning the moisture/dew cakes up with the construction dust and the car ends up covered in dirt. I'm sure this thought is making a lot of you cringe... believe me, it bothers me greatly. The city parking pass is only good for a few streets, and the other streets are worse (trees losing saplings all day, which get glued onto the car).

I got my HUD in last week but haven't had a chance to install it yet. I'll be taking pictures of the HUD install process and I'll post them here once I'm done.

I'm enjoying driving it, though. It's an awesome car.

I keep seeing Camaros here and there though, and, well, I still get a bit jealous. I think they stand out more than my car. They definitely look better IMO. I've got the ZL1 in the plans still...

I'll be at the plant for the tour in Oshawa. The car will be my way there.

(and I am still lurking on these forums!)
