Jalopnik and all the other car blogs quote us all the time, (Jalopnik has specifically staed the LOVE the Camaro5 guys)... but the part in their write that caught my attention was this...

"...we've got to ask whether spending the money it takes to get the new Chevy Camaro into the status of official pace car was worth it given it's pretty much the most anticipated car in the history of muscle cars."

It's not just us guys!!

I really wish the Camaro was dropping in a better economic environment, then it's sales numbers would pretty much anything else's away. But things being as they are I think we're doing good with 11k+ pre-orders 2-3 months before launch and without a single test drive.

Sure we'd all like to see a better economy.

But, I'm betting the car's release will be timed perfectly as the economy continues to stabalize and consumer fears fade... The camaro is going to be the release the buying public needs after being so pent up.

Maybe the Camaro will be the sole reason the economy makes a turn for the better! If GM would put subliminal messages in the comercials telling everybody to buy a Camaro, I bet that would help. Even the Ford and Mopar guys would head to the chevy dealer like zombies and pick one up. Then GM would have SO much money they could start handing it out in the form of GMPP parts to the people that pre-ordered! Hey, its wishfull thinking... ya never know!

funny you mention that. IIRC it was either the release of the production date or the pre-ordering date.... the following monday, stocks (GM's most importantly) were on the rise.

Unfortunately the Jalopnik commentariat isn't particularly fond of us. At one point in that thread a member went so far as to ask how much Jalopnik was going to compensate for the 5 minutes of his life he had "wasted" reading the commentary on our forum.

Shame he couldn't look around and realize this is one of the top car forums (for any car) on the web.
