Future camaro owner asking for advise

Hi everyone my name is John and this is my first thread. I've been lurking here for months reading stories and all I can say is that everybody here is very nice and supportive.
I recently got a private offer of $1000 which is valid until 2/29/12. I wanted a 2LT with RS package sunroof and floor mats which totals 31605 at chevrolet build your own.
Here is the question.

Would it be better to purchase it in a local dealer or try the dealers online?
I was planning to contact Becky I heard she is the best.

Will my 1000$ private offer expire before the car is even made?
I heard you need a vin number before you can use it but the 1000 offer is a big help and saving.

The total from chevy.com 31605 is the msrp so should i offer less than that like at least a little above the invoice price?

Sorry for my noob question but I'm really excited to own my Camaro and I needed you help. Thank you very much everyone!

Welcome to C5 John, I wouldn't bother with building my own, there are lots of dealers that stock the very model you want. By all means, research as many dealers you can both online and in person. You will by far beat that MSRP and maybe can still use the 1000.00 on top of that. Good luck....

You should be able to buy the car for well under invoice. Do some price checks by going into a couple dealers and going to truecar.com to see the best deal you can get. Then call Becky and she'll meet or beat your best price and she will treat you like royalty. Invoice price varies from state to state, and last time I checked Michigan's invoice was one of the lower ones, so you will get a good deal going with Becky. She'll honor that $1000 manufacturer rebate too if it's still valid when you order.

My opinion on this is you will get the best deal by going to a local dealer and buying a car they already have on the lot. If they really don't have anything close ask them to find one at another dealership and swap it for you. Good dealers will work with you as long as you sound like you know what you are doing and will go elsewhere to find what they don't have.

The really big and really small dealerships seem most likely to try to screw people. If you are young or female it is more likely they will try to screw you. You should pay well below invoice. Don't mention the private offer at first. Ask them what incentives they have and you should already have researched the chevy site for that information. You should look at the dealer's web sites and know everything about their cars before you go there.

If they push too much, you feel pressured or uncomfortable - walk away and go to another dealer until you find one you like. I think buying from Becky would be fine (although I haven't done it yet), otherwise I would not buy except from a dealership within driving range.

Good Luck John!

I would go to Becky@RogersChevy ---- She is always around helping Camaro5 owners even through you may not have purchased through her. I ended up using a local dealer to buy my latest 45th (GM Buyback/trade) and that was because I was stuck with them. I did talk to her and she offered a lower price but i still had my trade up/buyback that was being worked with my local dealer.

Well 1000 is nice, but when its all said and done and you get your camaro, and start doing all the things you want to do to it, 1000 wont mean much either way.
So dont feel pressure in anyway from that 1000 offer, its better to make sure you find the right car/deal.

John......I would be willing to bet she can make you a better deal......Call Becky

oh and btw......Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to Camaro5. There is a BIG fridge on the back porch with anything you can think of in it...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. Make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom's, wive's, husbands and boyfriends here don't care....and take it easy.

oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.

Welcome!!
