Paint Chip! From my friend!

Okay so I recently traded in my 2LT/RS (Black), for my 2011 1SS M6 (Cyber Grey). I am pretty OCD with my things, especially my car. It only has 800 miles on it, and last Sunday, my best friend wanted a ride in it. So of course I obliged and we had an awesome day just cruising around, enjoying the nice weather. When we got back, we were BSing over a few beers and he opened his car door and it flew open caught by the wind and nicked the paint (no dent thank god), just aft of the "Camaro" symbol on the right front quarter panel. Right on the end of the panel. I of course had my heart sink and kind of flipped out.. Well I should have the touch up paint in on Monday and just wanted any suggestions for the best way to try and blend it. Should I take it to a detailer/body shop? My dealer wanted to paint the whole damnt thing. It is a bit smaller than the size of a pencil eraser. He came over to the house today to see if we we're still friends...haha. We've been friends for years, but this is my baby! I've been mad just knowing it's there. Any tips would be great! Thanks!

Go to the dealer and persuade them to just fix that one part.

That sux but in all honesty get used to them. It will probably be just fine with the touch up then a coat of polish and wax. Seeing as it's so small.

I would take it to the body shop what they can do is use the touch up paint then wetsand it and buff it. With someone who knows what they are doing you won't be able to tell

I had a few chips on my drivers door right at the point, got a bottle of touch up paint, two coats a couple hours apart, and now even I cant find them. Just make sure you shake up the paint, and put multiple thin coats instead of one thick coat. That is what the body guy told me and it worked great.

IMO i would just do the touch up paint at the best you can, if it does not look good to your liking then i would have it really fixed. with such a small spot all the money a body shop would charge would not be worth it to me.

Okay that's the route I was going to take as well. The guy at the dealer told me not to use the brush it comes with, but instead get an old book of matches, and use the tip off of a torn match. I guess all I can do is try. I have meguiars wax but what should I use as a polish?

The day after I got my car I found litle tiny chips on the drivers door edge. Don't know how they got there. My wife said it didn't happen on her trip to the supermarket.

Anyway I picked up the touch up at the dealer you would never see them. I tried the match stick method, not very good, maybe it was me. Just use the least amount of paint you can on the brush. Put a few coats.

Oh and you can buy touch up for the clear coat as well.

I work for GM at a Dealer so I feel like I can speak freely on the touch-up paint. The GM touch-up paint is terrible. If you use the brush it is too much, no matter how much you try and be careful. It is also a brush! If you use the pen portion of the paint, it works ok until you try to use it a 2nd or 3rd time and then it is all gummed up. The match method is crap as well.

I order all of my paint from www.automotivetouchup.com. I am not affiliated with them at all. They have a marker type of touch-up paint pen and you can get really exact with it. There are no problems touching up using that at all. I would suggest that.

I tried them and the color was darker that the OEM color. The chips stood out as they were darker in color.
