Just Installed my FlowMasters
Just pulled it off the rack tonight and took it for a spin Sounds pretty good as I punch it through the gears, getting rubber now in first, second and third gear.. Will add cold air injection this spring. 2 questions...how long can I expect these mufflers to last and do the sounds change as the mufflers break in?

Should last a very long time, will prob not have to worry about them. And they usually get a bit deeper the more the car is driven... post a video!!

Ok, couple of things.....Probably should have put this in the V6 section and those questions you should have had answered before you paid for the flows, ya think?
Either way, I had a Flowmaster setup on my F-150 for 10 years and never had an issue with them. I have Flows on my '07 Tahoe now and they have gotten a litle deeper after they were on for a while. Post up a good sound/video clip so we can hear them. Last edited by NoSyT; 02-26-2011 at 03:27 AM. |

The sound will not change, they are chambered mufflers and there is no steel wool to break down.

Did you need to do any special electronic tuning with the Flowmasters? What about after you do the cold air injection?

Glad to hear that you're happy with the new flowmaster's. I'm considering the same for V6/M6.
Questions: 1) Can you describe the difference in sound a little more (a little louder, deeper tone, cabin noise, etc). 2) Where did you buy them? 3) Who installed them for you. Thanks in advance |

I'm purchasing a catback Flowmaster system in April for my SS. I have already purchased a new tunnel brace from Elite Engineering to clear the 3" tubes. I know, I could have just placed washers behind the stock one but I got caught up on how cool this brace looks. My other buy for this spring is a set of Pfadt Rear Trailing Arms from Apex Motorsports.
The cheepest price I have seen on the cat back Flowmaster American Thunder is from KMJ Performance, which I found on Ebay, at $628 with free shipping. Does anyone have any experience buying from this company?

Nope but I got mine for about that from StreetSideAuto.com. Great company. Super fast shipping and they will match any advertised price. Not sure if eBay counts though. It would have to be a store.

Deeper than stock sound at low RPM, then like all v6 it gets louder and higher pitched as you approach 3k rpm. The good news is I can cruise at highway speed at under 2k rpm whuich gives you a nice even tone without being hi pitched. Ordered off the net from Our Deal Rock. I put them on myself. |

I went from dynoed at the wheels stock about 355hp/360tq to 408hp/412tq with CAI, headers, FM cat back and a tune... The tune really helps! It also makes the car run better. Better throttle response, better economy, smoother acceleration. It calibrates the computer to work with whats actually on the car. It still thinks you have the stock equipment and wants it to run like it did with it... you dont want that! You dont really NEED a tune thought untill you put headers on. |
