M6 gear indicator?

Is there any way via the driver information window or the HUD to show what gear you are in? I know in the automatic it at least shows P,R,N,D, M. Is there something similar for the manual?

No. You have to remember what gear you put it in.

You might be able to retrofit a gear indicator for a motorcycle. They make them where you basically set them up to measure the speed and RPM for each gear, and they tell you what gear you're in. I never used one, but they are useful on a bike because you just shift up or down, not in the H pattern of a car.

Are you new to driving a stick? If so, you will find that after time, you will be able to feel what gear the car is in by both the engine and the feel of the shifter

Well, I drove my dad’s old farm truck with a four speed in it during high school, so it’s been a few years since I was used to driving a manual every day. My car got delivered yesterday so I took it for a little drive and was definitely having some trouble. Killed it at a couple stop lights and pissed some people off behind me. Oh well, I’m sure within a week I’ll have it felt out pretty good. It would just be nice if the hud or driver display showed the actual gear number, that’s all.

Yeah, it would be neat if it showed it, but oh well. The clutch and shifter on these cars is quite different than a tractor. You'll get used to it pretty quick. And don't feel bad about stalling, I've had an auto the last 4 years ( jeep) but have owned several sticks and ride a motorcycle as primary transportation. I've stalled mine about a half dozen times any time I get a new non auto vehicle, I stall it a few times in the first 1000 miles or so while getting used to it, although bikes not as much. I think I do it because I try to be easy on the clutch during break in.
