I Feel Like I'm Driving The Statue of Liberty

Perhaps other Camaro owners have observed, but people just love this car! I've owned new cars for almost 40 years but until my Camaro I have never experienced:

- People giving me the thumbs-up or just waving.
- I'm in front of a grocery store and I get a long look and thumbs up from the sidewalk.
- I get a polite ... slow start from a Shelby in the next lane (he could clean my V6 clock but he didn't)
- At a light i get asked about how much I 'love' it.
- Everyone I know asks about the car, the MPG, the power, etc.

So many people just love this car. The mechanics of the care aren't that much different than anything else I have owned but never in my life have people responded so positively to what I'm driving. It seems to evoke an emotional response that is so hard to measure, and sure doesn't fit into any C&D or Consumer Reports ratings.

I know the car is actually made in Canada, but it is the symbol of the rebirth of the American company - GM, and I think Americans are just proud to see an American nameplate (Chevy) on a phenomenal success story.

P.S. Why is everyone else driving so slow?

Welcome Tom and the answer to your questionas to why everyone else is driving so slow is taking into account Einstein's law of relativity, if you hopped into a Camaro on a looped track going the speed of light you would arrive at the begining of the loop in time to actually see yourself getting into thhh,,..SEIZURE TIME!

And I forgot to mention:
- Headlight flash (and wave back from me) from a Dodge Challenger
- Kids on my block waving, and a big shout when I gun the engine

So far no females have responded. My wife has noticed much attention when she is the driver.

Early this evening (I'm on the road) I pulled into a Starbucks (in Handsome 'ole Helios - my CTF convert) -- to grab an iced tea.....

I walked in the door - and one of the ladies behind the counter was nearly in convulsions over Helios! She was just going NUTS -- raving about how much she loves the new Camaro - and how she's not yet seen a convertible - and how much she loves the black accessory stripe.....

She asked me (and her boss) if she could come out to look at him -- and just raved for about 5 minutes - took several pictures of him - and asked me about the CTF sticker on the windshield - I explained what I did and she yelled "HOW DO I BECOME RELATED TO YOU?????"

wellalrightythen!!!

People react very strongly to these new Camaros - and that makes me one proud papa!

Absolutely on all counts. I too have owned many, many cars and have received compliments on my vehicles, but never to the degree and frequency as I do with the Camaro, frankly every time is see one on the road I too think how stunning of a car it really is.
