We're people too...

This is for all of my fellow sales people out there. First off let me say that I love cruzing this site and reading all of the neat things going on out there in Camaro land. All of the excitement, happyness and down right joy over this magnificant car that GM has produced really keeps me pumped up to do my job everyday. Having said all of this, sometimes it gets to me when I see so many people lump all sales people into the same category...terrible, money hungry, greedy, no good for nuthing so & so's.:( Now before I get blasted and completely torn apart for that last statement let me say that I KNOW there are alot of you who have had great experiences with your dealer and sales person and this is NOT meant for you. I guess what I'm trying to say is that we're people too and reading some of this really can get to you once in a while. For those of us who really go out of our way to give the customer any and everything we can this is more than just a job or a way to make a living....this is who we are and what we love to do....making friends and customers along the way! Just had to put it out there.

Just like any other profession, there are good and bad in there.
My salesman, sales manager and the owner of the dealership were awesome, from day one until I got her home. This is the third new car I've bought from them and I will continue to go there for my future vehicle needs.

If you think about it, there has got to be more good salespeople out there then bad, else the dealerships would quickly go out of business.

*high-fives and a pat on the back, hearty 'thank you' to all the good ones we have!

Well, I was happy enough with the sales staff at the dealership where my Camaro was ordered and delivered from that I brought in a large box of Russell Stover candy and the salesman got a bottle of Jim Beam..

Im glad to see you give your customers high quality service!!!:thu mbup:

Glad to hear that you like your job Dan.

I have never had a better car buying experience than buying my new Camaro and new Silverado this year at Classic Grapevine.

THAT SAID, I have had the displeasure of dealing with the not-so-good car salesmen in the past, so I can sympathize with those who complain.

In the end, we need the good guys, like you, to spread your work ethic and weed out the riff-raff.

We have a lot of respect for quality dealers. Unfortunately, the salesperson's job is to know their products. In fact, every professional is responsible for knowing a lot about their company, the products and services that company offers, and how they can best serve clients or customers. Salespeople are not always superior in any of those categories, especially when it comes to commission sales. I should know. I'm currently* a customer service agent who gets the angry customers who have been told that their bill will be a certain number but some sales agent did not tell them that their promotion would end in 3 months. By the time I get that call, the sales agent has already collected a commission for this incompetence and the customer has lost the agent's number.

Good salespeople are immensely valuable. Bad salespeople cause people like me trouble on a daily basis and ruin a good company's reputation with their sleazy ways.

If you're one of the good ones, then you've found yourself a lot of potential buyers here and a place to share your enthusiasm regarding the products that you sell. If you're a bad one, then you'll find yourself shouted off the forum by over 18,000 users who don't want you here. Camaro5 has so far been a great judge of character.

*currently—I won't be in this position forever.

Today was a wild day at work. So was yesterday. There's a good reason that I appreciate people in sales that know how to do their jobs. There's also a good reason why people who can't do their jobs correctly make me very angry.

I need a beer.

One of the biggest reasons I really like this site is there are so many people willing and ABLE to help out with questions and services needed in the general community. This makes me proud of what I personally strive to do on my job for all of my customers (even non-Camaro buyers). I guess I just needed to vent a little yesterday. Thanks for all of the encouraging comments about my/our profession!

I feel your pain man... I'm a Wedding DJ by trade... and when most people think of a wedding dj they think of a fat, bald man that has a cheesy tux on and is going to play the chicken dance... ugh.. . my site. www.jeremyganssproductions.com

My sales guy was a little strange.. but he treated me right the entire time. . .

I am gullible, trusting and a bit too nice. Salespeople walk all over me, this is why I don't like them.. because of ME. Anyway.. Kathy at Gary Lange Auto in McHenry Illinois was pretty decent to me. Knocked a little off sticker to get me up there to buy her car. The finance manager hasn't ever sold a car to someone out of state before I don't think. They didn't charge my state taxes into the loan so I had to come up with $3k for those which sucked but whatever.. also they didn't' fill out the odometer statement right (my state is picky) and they didn't ever send me or my state the manufacturers statement of origin.

When the county treasurer called them, they overnighted the required documents to me but that still meant another trip to the treasurers.

Inexperience aside, the sales person knew less about the 2010 Camaro than I did because I'd been studying the car for a couple months but she was helpful and pleasant. Since I was already making the purchase before I stepped foot on the lot she wasn't pushy at all so I can't talk to how she is with more difficult sales.

A previous new car purchase I made was a downright rip-off. I traded in my car for $2k which was theft to begin with, then they added the $2k back into the sales price before reducing it... so I basically just handed them my old car. I was young, and dumb.

I must say, going through this car buying experience has made me dislike ALL salesman to a certain extent. I was literally put through HELL while trying to purchase my camaro.

Heres my rundown.....

1st attempt: Go to dealership, I ask for a Orange 2LT/RS camaro and the salesman gets all excited and tells me that yea they just got a truck and they have exactly what I am looking for. Mind you, he is a new, inexperienced salesman and thinks all the other salesman are trying to undercut him and steal his sale, he has me fill out all the paperwork, runs my credit for the loan, and sit down and talk to finance manager, to come back 2.5 hours later and tell me that the car was a "ordered" car for someone else.
He never once check the vin# or anything, just wasted 3 hours of my life.....

2nd attemptDealership apologizes and promises me that they have a black 2LT/RS, coming in 1.5 weeks and that if I put 2000 down when it gets there it will definately be mines. So I put the money down. 3 weeks later they say the car is here, so I go to pick it up, (i thought), I get there and its a 1LT (no RS package) sittin there in IBM, im like WTF!!!! Needless to say I pretty much curse everyone out there and get my money back.

3rd attempt I call every dealership in town and find one at Munday Cheverolet in Houston. The salesman was straight up with me, but i had been through so much in the last 2 mos, I prolly didnt give him a fair chance. Got my car from them as promised (black 2LT/RS) and now I am I happy camaro owner

So maybe it was just the dealership, or maybe it was just the high demand for this car that makes these salesman dishonest in a way, but all I know is that this car buying experience has left a very bad taste in my mouth about salesman.

I know there are good one out there for sure, hopefully my next car purchase will restore my faith in them.

Sorry for the long read.....had to vent all this out eventually....
