Thinking about powder coating

I am looking into powder coating my stock RS wheels. A guy locally said he would do them all (sand blasted, powder coated, and clear coated) for $300.

He also stated he would do my lug nuts for $.50 each.

I've noticed a lot of people with powder coated wheels do not have their lug nuts painted. Why is that? Fear of chipping when putting wheels back on? I like the look either way, just wondering if I should save myself some trouble and not do the lug nuts and possibly buy black ones down the road or something.

Also thinking about getting the Autobot center caps while my wheels are off, but unsure how it's gonna look on a black car with black wheels.. might stand out too much. Anyone have this setup?

Also.... should I go matte black or glossy? I'm torn between the 2.

Can't wait to get it done though, should be able to get them done in a few weeks.

1. I bought black gorilla lugnuts off amazon Amazon Link
2. I forget what % gloss I went but I kind of wish I went glossier. I still love them though! Especially with my painted calipers.

Go with gloss. Perhaps if you had a non-black car matte would look OK. But I'd rather have my wheels pop with the gloss, especially since you are putting them on a gloss black car. Then powder coat the calipers in a contrasting color.

Awesome. I am thinking about doing a blue color on the calipers because I want blue stripes. How difficult is it to take the calipers off? I'm not too smart when it comes to mechanics, but I'm learning.

I had them done with the stripes so I couldn't help taking them off. Stieger has Colbalt? Blue on his calipers....Stieger's Build Thread....scroll down for a pic

Pretty awesome! I'm thinking Azure Blue, but I think the guy has a new color - Wildcat blue he wants to try out. Are they hard to take off?

By the way, I love your stripes. They're pretty freaking awesome. Orange and black was my first choice of colors, but decided I might like blue better. Getting same type as yours just don't know if I'm gonna do the stripes on the hood yet.

I think I'm just gonna get my stripes put on the hood and trunk. Not roof. That's what I meant sorry.
