If you are talking about the dust boot on the bottom of the shifter, yes that is a pain in the ass. You just have to be patient, get one corner on and work your way around. If you have big hands it is even harder, try to find someone to help with small hands and good dexterity.

For the most part it is prettty easy. Maybe the huge cut on my thumb from the centering springs is affecting it, but it is a pain in the rear with that first boot support. waiting for it to warm up a bit before I try again.

Yeah it was probably the biggest pain of the install for me. Backing off the tranny support bolts almost all the way gives you a little room to work but if you have bigger hands it's still pretty tight.

I could barely friggin move under there. What a pain, but oh so worth it. It looks great and only short throws batman. The thing was worth the frustration, at times, on my part

The boot support is polyurethane and can become pretty hard in cold weather. The warmer the part gets the easier it is to stretch and slide on. A couple of tricks are:

1. use a dab of grease for easier assembly

2. put the boot support in the microwave for 10 to 15 seconds (DO NOT OVER DO IT - or you'll ruin the part) to warm it up just prior to install.

Again, I'm talking about the boot support(s) not the lower dust boot here.

I think that what was eventually my problem. It was cold, so I left it inside the house over night and placed it on top of the coffee pot where it was a little warm. then went out and tried it, and after a couple F-bombs it went on just fine.

Mine went on after I took a hairdyer to it for about 30 seconds. Became more pliable and it slid right on after that.

What a high quality shifter. That cue ball feels perfect in the palm while shifting.

It will fit over the threads and it's pretty easy to work down vs trying to pry it over the fat end.
