Could this help with gas?

I have a buddy with a 2012 LS, I have a 2010 1LT, I used tohave a 2011 LS and I really liked the Heritage Wheels. My buddy told me today that he would love to trade one for one his LS heritage wheels from my 1LT wheels. Not that I get bad gas mileage but could going down to an 18in wheel help improve my gas alittle, if not oh well, i will most likely do the trade anyway as i said i really do like the heritage wheels. There is just something about them. plus with the awesome blue ns-1 stripes i am getting i would just paint the silver rings that color blue of the stripes, and if i did not like the way the blue look on the tires i would pull the rings and i got the black wheels i want.

Actually, I'd guess that you'd end up with a slight drop in MPGs if you went from the 1LT wheels to the LS steelies. The LS wheels weigh more than either of the 1LT (18" or 19") options.

Wheel weight:
LS: 14.95Kg/32.9lbs each. = 59.8Kg/131.5lbs Total.
1LT: 18 x 7.5": 10.47Kg/23lbs each = 41.88Kg/92.1lbs Total.
1LT: 19 x 8": 13.09Kg/28.8lbs each = 52.36Kg/115.2lbs Total.

Any time you can shave unsprung weight from the car, the better off you are. If you were looking for the best set of stock wheels to do this, then it would be the 18" 1LT wheels, as those are the lightest ones available from GM.

probably wouldn't drop much as i have the 19" 1LT wheels, might still do it anyway, just like the heritage steelies
