test drove a 1LT tonight (review)
my dealer has had a car sitting on his lot for 10 days now (this is the second time i have seen it). they arent selling it they are just letting it gather attention.
The car is a black 1LT automatic, with gray interior, silver rally stripes, connectivity package, trunk mat, door sills, quarter panels, and sunroof. The special fuel door was on it for all of a day before they took it off. first the sound.. WOW! I was standing behind the car when my dealer started it up to take it out of the lobby and this was just a V6 but when it was started up holy crap. the girl i was with leans over to me and just says "wow that car purrs". I think thats the absolutely best way to describe it. Visibility. I think this is the one part that will take some time getting use to. We went on a pretty decent test drive (maybe 7-10 miles) which included some slow bumpy roads, nice curvy roads, highway, pretty much everything. I only changed lanes once and that was because my lane ended. I had to accelerate to get in front of a guy (not that he cared he was taking a picture with his cell phone), but with the mirrors correctly adjusted according to that post from a month or so ago you shouldnt have any problems, but there was definitely hesitation on my part. I could see all my normal blinds spots perfectly but the one thing im still concerned about is back a bit behind the corners of the car. I didnt get a long enough chance to really check it out but that was the one part that was a little weird. As far as looking over the hood, i just raised the seat up till i was looking over it. im 5 10 and had my head about an inch from the ceiling (with the sun roof as mentioned before). worked out really well for me. performance. this car is everything you want it to be on the road. the steering is very responsive, the car just gets up and goes whenever you want, in the cabin with everything shut its really quiet, but with the windows down boy does it purr. I pulled out on a highway from a side road and i hit 70 no problem and didnt even realize thats where i was. I mentioned later to the girl that came with me that we were doing 55-70 most of the time and she thought we were doing around 40. somehow this car slows everything down. I have no clue how but its just fantastic. paddle shifters. damn are those things fun. Im not particularly good with driving a stick but the final third of the drive i took i was using them and man they are a nice change. by the end i was trying to make it do some stuff just to see how it would react, and its responds to pretty much everything you do. I got a couple of denied shifts but still a cool feature. the two things that really caught my attention. first visibility everyone has touched on the subject its goign to take some getting use to but with some time i think it will be fine. the second wow does the limited slip differential or traction control (whatever its called) really control the car in first gear. even with just the V6 there is enough torque to feel that first gear lags behind a little. Once it gets past that everything is smooth sailing and the car reacts how you think it would react but until you get up a little in speed it holds back. and the attention this car gets is just insane. EVERYONE looked (except the woman on the cell phone) and its not just men, or women or whatever its EVERYONE. i went into a neighborhood and two women were out in a front yard and the one just points at the car while the other stared and both of these women had to be in their 40s.. this car gets looks thats for sure. overall.. WOW. the girl i was with was jealous all the way and already asking me if i wanted to buy her one as well. this car is just fantastic. i cant wait to get mine. goes into the system tomorrow Scott, the boys at the plant, everyone involved in this car, you did a FANTASTIC job. this car on a scale of 1 to 10 is a 12.

Sounds like fun. I'm 14 hours away from testing a yellow w/ black leather 2LT auto. About 15 hours away from explaining to my wife why we need to trade my Civic now instead of waiting 'til it's paid off in 2 years!
