Question for IOM owners...
First of all congrats on your cars
! Now for my question: How has everyone responded to the color? Any dislikes? My friends keep telling me it's a bad choice, and I tell them they have to see it in person or at least watch a video of a walk around...I am NOT listening to them, this is MY car! I have cyber grey stripes ordered as well...but back on topic, just wondering what other people have said...thanks!

To heck with them
Your car - buy it as you want it Life is not a rehersal - you only come through here once I dont have mine yet - but waited till I saw one in person before ordering it and I went the whole "on fire" route with the matching interior. I made sure I saw the IOM car on a dull day and under bright light and thats what sold me. Light dances in the gold highlights in the paint and it really accentuates the lines of the car. My kids love it - my wife thinks it is too loud - and I really dont care at this point. As I have said in a few other threads - every time I see it, it makes me smile. Try setting your desktop picture on your pc to some really nice pictures of the main colors you like and alternate them every few days and see which you find yourself drawn to I am 47 and I know that some of my workmates will yank my chain about the flaming orange beast - but that will make for more memories in itself :-) The older I get, the more I realise that choices like this say more about what I care about other people's opinions as opposed to what I want. In your teens-20s you are influenced a lot more by your peers In your 30s it is more about your partner (and your bank manager :-) ) As you get more into your 40s you have some fun with your kids' opinions but its also easier to focus on what you truly want. We have many things in life we cant choose - but choosing the color of your car is one of the few that we get to have fun with

My wife and I saw the IOM in person, outside in the sunlight, and fell in love with it. Pictures don't do this color any justice. We figured, since we're ordering an SS/RS, we don't want it to look like a family car. We want to be noticed (and we aren't the type of people who like to draw attention to ourselves). Like Clay said, get what you want, no what your friends think you should have, unless they're paying for it!! I think they'll be jealous when they see you going down the road. |

maybe ur too young to remember................but in 69' (which the 2010 is designed after) one competition SS/Z28 color was Hugger Orange (white or black skunk stripes). this is like Hugger Orange with Pearl in it to modernize it.
i couldn't imagine ordering a 2010 and not going with orange paint, black interior and skunk stripes!

I was going to switch my color for this reason, but I'm so glad I didn't! I can verify that everyone who says you need to see this color is correct. It looks reddish and crapy in pictures, but in person it is clearly orange. In the sun it looks like liquid and you want to touch it (which of course you can't, don't want swirl marks
)

Awesome, these replies only solidify my choice! Yeah, I say to hell with my friends' opinions, this is MY beast!!! And I'm almost 23, so I think my age is very appropriate for the color. Plus I'm a wild child

They critisize the color because of their ignorance to even know what it really looks like, maybe even jeoulsy. Remember it's one of the best colors, especially with that chameleon affect.

I was a huge IOM skeptic before seeing it in person. In photos, and in overcast lighting, it still looks very reddish like "tomato soup". But, in direct sun or bright lighting (in person) it is definitely orange. More orange than red to me.
However, this color is NOT like hugger orange. Not even close. I still own two hugger orange '69 Camaros and also had a hugger orange 99 Camaro SS. I'd say the IOM color has some bright orange flakes in the paint, but the basecoat is far more red like than Hugger. During Hot Rod Power Tour a couple years ago, GM rolled around in that convertible concept Camaro. THAT color was closer to hugger metallic. It was brighter than IOM, even in the shade. Both of these pics taken by the same camera, in similar lighting. IOM had a little less "glow" to it in person. But, the concept had some very expensive paint also, I believe the GM director of special projects told me it was something like $20K to paint the concept. ![]() ![]() I'd own an IOM car after seeing/driving one. I like the color, but not as much as my cyber gray one.

The only 2 negative comments that I have gotten were #1- it is too much of an attention grabber...cops will see me coming a mile away. #2 - it is too flashy and I need to be concerned about being car jacked and that I will have problems with people trying to steal it. I live inside the Wash, DC beltway so it is a valid point. My rebut...I can't live my life in fear and that is what insurance is for.

I saw an IOM SS yesterday at a car show. It is very nice color and in the bright sunlight it shimmers. Order what you like and the heck with everyone else. They wont be driving it. I hardly doubt that any of the people that are trying to discourage you will say NO if you ask them to go for a ride in it. It's your car......get what you like. Life is too short! Be happy!

I'm planning to go with IOM, but I wasn't sure until I saw it in person on a Colorado. Pictures just can't do that color justice.
