Chevy Camaro To Receive Supercharged “LT4″ V8 Engine By 2015, More Powerful Than ZL1

Didn't see this posted anywhere.

Per GM Authority:
http://gmauthority.com/blog/2012/09/...m_medium=email

"Within the same Corvette Forum thread that posted leaked CAD engine bay renderings of the Corvette C7 and other images, there was a blurb from the same user that uploaded the renderings regarding the Chevrolet Camaro. If it is to be believed, the Camaro will be receiving a supercharged version of the fifth-generation small-block V8 engine — rumored to be called “LT4″.
According the the user, who is highly reputable within the forum’s community, the engine will be an “upgrade of Camaro ZL1 with more hp.” Sounds pretty mighty, considering the ZL1 currently punches out 580 horsepower via a 6.2L supercharged LSA engine. But will the ZL1 name stick? Or is this paving the way for the likes of a Z28? As we like to say here on GMA, only time will tell."

Not a chance that gm will put the same engine from a corvette in any Camaro because of needing the distinct distinction between the cars. IMO

Pretty sure the Vette will have a new powerplant by then.

No, so the base Corvette and the Camaro SS have completely different engines?

i'd rather see a twin turbo'd engine (both v6 and v8) for the camaro. with these stricter CAFE regulations, the turbos will not only make more power than the superchargers, but get better gas mileage in the process. the only real downside is more maintenance?

Well to ease your concerns, I am 100% positive it won't be the same LT4 as I have in my Corvette now.

This wouldn't be the first time GM has brought back old names for engines.

Lots of current engine name now were totally different engines "back in the day".

In many cases going back decades they do have the same engine.

Except for the LS3, LS1, LT1 and all the various cross-platform engines that came before... No, they'd never do that.

(non Camaro, but the LS2 in the GTO was also in the original C6 before it sported the LS3)
