Check Engine light issue, dealer giving me a song and dance.

Hi guys, I realize this may be the wrong area for this post so if a mod could move it to the appropriate forum I would appreciate it, ty. I have a check engine light that came on a week ago and I had the car looked at by my local GM dealer. They tell me it's something to do with the fuel injection and they needed to send the info to some Tech center of theirs back east. Then I got no call on the Tues as they said they would and now after calling them today they tell me a special piece of test equipment needs to be sent to them by the tech center and it will take 4-6 weeks to get here!! I have nothing in writing at this point saying it's safe to drive, they have vocally expressed this three times now, and the car is at 75000+ km so I am worried I will hit the 80000 km extended warranty limit before they do said 'test'. Anyone who may have any advice please let me know your thoughts as I feel that they are trying to buy time until the problem becomes mine and not theirs. Thanks for listening.

Since the issue was brought to their attention prior to warranty running out they will cover it. I would make sure to get the service print out so you have proof if in the rare case they try to screw you with that

I would have them give you a written estimate of problem just safety sake if they haven't. It is before warranty so you are good you just want a record that it is especially the time frame they are giving. Don't understand 4-6 weeks in this day and age of FedEx and ups.

Do you have the code or any way to read it (friend with a code reader or do any local auto parts/service centers offer offer to read them)?

Is the car running badly or is it doing anything besides showing you a light?

Have you made any modifications to the car?

Your dealer is acting oddly- or is truly ill equipped to deal with service issues.

Thats a good idea. You could go to Oriellys or advanced auto to get the code read. Two days ago Oriellys read my code and printed out a sheet with it. That would be your proof

Great idea that way he has something dated

Also I am sure Brandon will see this and make sure he gets the proper customer service. He has been great to us in the pass.

What are the mods you have done to the car like CAI. If not when I bought my Gen5 it had sone 11 500 Km on it but the car was stored for 5 months without any care. So without any Stabil, on injector went wrong and they had to replace it.

Sounds like maybe a carbon deposit issue.

Didn't the dealer note the code on the SR form when you took it in? Give them another call....

Ok, got a copy of the original WO but it doesn't show the code or tests done. However I did get a handwritten note from the Service guy signed and dated with a reference to the WO# so I should be good and I had a friend find the code for me. Code is P2099 which seems to be a too rich problem according to what I have seen on the web. Car hasn't done anything wierd except it had a miss once at a stoplight, but only once and that's it.
