Camaros are a little too heavy for light flywheels IMHO.

We have a new twin that weighs 8.5 lbs total! I would not go light with the new Camaro. While its true it will rev quicker what most dont think about is that it decels just as quick which makes for horrible driving manners and could easily hurt performance.

Don't know about the Camaro, but I had one on my street rod one time and it made a real noticeable difference! Motor would rev up quick!!

What advantages and disadvantages would a car with a lighter flywheel have on a road course?

Road course they are great, street driving not so great. Heavier flywheel with its rotational mass helps a vehicle leave from a standstill much smoother at a low rpm. With a lightweight flywheel you will have to rev more from a standstill to get it rolling out smoothly. For a road course they are great being that the engine is usually in the higher RPMs

Its true you'll have to rev more to start from a stop but when moving I have no complaints. I went with the Mcleod RXT clutch with the billet aluminum flywheel. I'm cammed so my drivability around town can be trying at times but its all worth it.

I've done a couple of light weight flywheels in some other cars and driving around town is like you say a challenge at times, just more revving to get to move from a standstill...a 350z I did wasn't too bad drivability wise because of the trans and diff gearing. A Honda civic with one was terrible that I did, but it was an auto-x car. Would not want to drive that thing daily, take off at 3k to get rolling...no torque to move that thing
