1le and regular ss fast list questions

First question is I expected to see better 1le 1/4 mile times since theyre geared different so why do the regular ss manuals seem to have better times? Second question is why is the ss fast list mainly early model 5th gens mostly '09-'11 on the slip dates

The gearing between the two is not that much of a difference overall. A couple of magazines got quicker 0-60 and 1/4 mile times but it could have just been from colder weather. The reason you dont see a lot of 1LE 1/4 miles times is because it is a track focused crowd of owners that dont hit the drag strip as often and there very few 1LEs out there compared to the standard SS.
There are threads that show how simliar the gearing is between the 2 cars, most people dont realize the ratios in the 1LE transmission counters the 3.90 gears. If you add 3.90 gears to an SS it will be an animal.

One reason is more guys with 2010+ Camaros have been going to the track compared to the small number of 1LE owners. So the odds of someone having a great track day is much better for non-1LEs.

Running real fast times at the track takes a combination of factors (excellent driving, very good track conditions - track prep, density altitude (weather conditions combined with elevation), etc.

Also, wider tires up front is also a factor. 285 series tires up front will slightly slow the car down vs. stock 245s up front on the regular SS.
The ILE also has some stronger suspension parts that help it around a road course, but most likely make it harder to launch.

I took mine out last night for the 1st time, I've only taken maybe 5 passes over the last 15 years, and never in the 1LE, Its was fun, but hard for a road racer like me to get a good start. I can't bring myself to be too hard on the driveline, and 1st gear is so hard to not spin the tires. I've done things to the chassis that greatly help to corner, but takes away from weight transfer front to rear. I didn't bother to lower rear tire PSI, just for giggles w/o getting a ticket waiting for my next road track event. People were real nice. The guys that does this regular really have their cars dialed. Good news is that I have no wheel hop!
