Fuel Mixture

Some friends have older street rods and they all run a 50/50 mixture of 110 octane and 93 octane. Will this mixture damage my engine?

The engine will gain a little, but nothing worthwhile to justify $4.99 a gallon for 110. Older street rods are Iron headed which required a blend. I had a 428 Pontiac which was 11.5 to 1 and ran on a blend of Sunoco 94 and 110. You now have cooler engined, aluminum heads which allow for higher compression and lower octane. Add in computer controlled timing and you only need to run 93 octane.

The recommended fuel is 91. I use 93 here. Using 100 octane would do very little to improve anything other than drain your wallet.

I have ran that combo in mine a few times (actually 109 & 93). I could tell a difference. It will not hurt your engine if that is what you are worried about. Give it try and see if your grin gets a little bigger

Just be sure to run the unleaded !!!!!!!!
