Long Road to the right color !

Ever since I saw pictures of the Camaro from the auto show years ago. I knew I had to have one that color. Later I learned it was silver ice metallic. One thing I learned a long time ago though, is that what translates in pictures doesn't always seem the same in person. I wanted to make sure SIM was the right choice. The wife and I went to the Indianapolis car show where I saw my first Camaro in person. They had a SIM there and a Dale Earnheart special paint job. The car was awesome but now I'm not so sure about the SIM color. So now I'm considering the Red Jewel and maybe Cyber Grey. After doing a bit of research I learn what other vehicles have the same paint. I think we found the Red Jewel on a Buick or Cadillac. Either way the car I'm replacing was Maroon in color and decide that after 7 years I want something different than that. So Cyber Grey it is, found that color on a Corvette and we both liked it. Months later I total out the Maroon mini-van on the interstate. My first accident my fault after 30+ years of driving. It hydroplaned in a rainstorm and hit a guardrail dead on. Air bags never went off. So the plan to get a new vehicle is moved up one year and after searching surrounding states through the chevy web site for a CGM with the options I want came to a dead end as well. Now I have to sacrifice either color or options to get my Camaro and get rid of this ugly rental I'm driving. After a couple of days making phone calls I found a dealer with 15 Camaros and they had every color. The wife and I head there immediately. Upon driving up I see the front row with Camaros and it was so beautiful, I couldn't wait to look at them all. Strangely enough tho the color we both liked best was the Inferno Orange Metallic. We sit down to talk price and that's when I learned they would only sell it for 5k above sticker. What a let down. I'm a GM employee and paying over sticker was gonna be hard to swallow. I did offer to pay sticker not a penny more. They came down to 3k over. We walked. I did manage to find a temporary ride and we ordered my IOM exactly the way I wanted and hopefully today's the day Viz gives me my VIN #. Oh, and I get it at MSRP minus my GM discount as well, so I saved thousands. Damn Dealers anyway !

I bought a 2010 SS "on the ground" at a dealership here in Dallas, TX for supplier pricing (which I qualify for) last Saturday. I also got the $500 60 day opt-out rebate and the $750 USAA membership rebate.

Do not pay above sticker! I wouldn't even pay MSRP.
