![]() I'm really choked to have been told by my local chevy dealer that the Bluetooth functionality for my phone has been disabled....? They claim that this was done because there is no OnStar Sat coverage out here in the desert. WTF ?! OnStar should have nothing to do with Bluetooth? Q - Does anyone know of a way to get into the on board computer and get this functionality back? I've tried a factory re-set but still nothing. Any thoughts or explanations from the team in Oshawa as to why this was done would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance! MCA ( SIM SS/RS ) Dubai, UAE |

I got it by accident, try to conect an Ipod , then go to config or press the menu button, the blutooth menu will appear.

thanks for trying but this is not going to work for me out here in international land
it's been disabled because ONStar is not available out here and I'm trying to find a shortcut to get around it....looks like i'm sunk though - it seems there is some kind of shared hardware component that was not put in by the factory for cars outside of the States....real bummer |

This guy has the same problem in the Caymen Islands:
http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=45246 Doesn't look like anyone had a fix for him either. You could try purchasing a stateside radio unit and swap it out maybe: Thats about all I can think of though.

There's 2 bluetooth modules if you have a 2SS, one in the PDIM for playing music and one in the OnStar unit for using for hands free calling. The problem is, the latter is part of the OnStar unit. Your car may not even have one. Or maybe they just remove the fuse for it? I don't know what the protocol is but this is likely the same for all GM cars so I'm sure if it's possible, someone has done it for another vehicle before.

I noticed in TIS2WEB that there's a separate radio programming for "export" cars. I'm guessing they've just disabled it in there. Maybe you can convince your dealer to grab the non-export radio programming and try it out?

There are two possible options. For European Radios, they don't use Onstar, they use another module. You would need to get the low speed module add in some custom wiring and somehow have the radio reprogrammed to use this Module.
The alternative and probably much easier way is use a hands free kit. This is not guaranteed to work but probably will. Pin 13 (-) and pin 20 (+) on the radio are the same inputs used by Onstar. Pin 15 (Mute) should mute the audio and switch it to whatever sound is coming in through - and + regardless of how the radio is set up. You would basically need some kind of hands free kit that could ground a wire when a call is taking place. |

MCA, i have the same problem and i live in KSA. the strange thing that i could not understand that u dont need the on start technology to have ur calls (i guess). ur using the speakers through the blue tooth connection!!!
i tried to make a phone call while the music is being streamed from my phone. the music will be muted automatically but the sound wont come from cars speakers.. i beleive that there is something missing in the programming, and it can be solved!! if all the hardware is there... lets keep this topic active we might reach to an answer!! |
