MTI Shifter knob and boot - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

Hey all. I've just recently installed the MTI Six Shooter, very happy with this shifter, however, I also purchased a new knob (the black ball). After installing it appears that the boot rattles around the shaft underneath the ball and is very distracting while shifting through the gears.

Is there anything I can do about this? Have I left a piece out or just missed a connection with the boot and the ball? The chromed plastic ring around the top of the boot is still attached to the boot, do I need to remove this or leave it alone?

I'd hate to have to start cutting up the boot, but I really like this knob and want to keep it. I like the feeling of it far more than the stock version.

Take the chrome piece off. Turn the boot inside out on the shaft. Put a tie strap around the top of the boot to clamp it to the shaft. Then when you turn it back down it looks good. Tie strap is hidden under the boot and the top has a rolled tight appearence.
