6spd shifter knob removal
I got the instructions from the dealer today on removing the stock shifter knob, has anyone tried it yet? the instuction look very involved so that's why I am asking for advice before I start!
Seems to be lots of comments on why I want to pull the shifter knob, I want to replace it with a round black Hurst 6-spd knob 1/2 -13 thread ,it looks like the original knob has 2 internal flats on the inside but won't know until it's removed. One guy said pull hard straight up but if you saw the page from GM's A.I.M. that don't seem possible because 4 screws hold the boot and retainer ring down to the guts of the center console.I looking for some body that's actually done it,not all you second guess'rs Last edited by oldfart1941; 07-14-2009 at 08:58 PM. mine is fine. taking off the knob would have nothing to do with how the tranny runs

Can you post the instructions?
What do you plan to replace the stock shifter knob with?
