TPMS Accuracy
How accurate is the TPMS? Mine said all four of my tires were at 30psi. So I got out my pump and hooked it up, but according to the pumps gauge, the tires were all at about 35. So I pumped them up to what looked like about 39 or 40 on my pump, but showed on my dash as 35psi. Who should I trust? I don't have any other gauges to test by.

I love crepes

Mine have proven to be very accurate on both the Camaro on our Enclave. I checked them both with several gauges just to be sure.

Mine are almost off by 2-3 psi - and not in one direction! Each one is a little different and I don't trust them at all. After I wash my Baby, and then use my air compressor to get the rest of the water out, I go around and check the tires for 36 psi.
I only use the DIC as a gross estimate check...

Have you tried resetting the TPMS system? Mine is very accurate....
Switch over to the TPMS screen on the DIC and press the reset (at the end of the left stalk) the screen should change view to say it is resetting. Mine didn't start updating until I started rolling down the road (I upped my pressures from the 32 the dealer had to 36)

Yup, reset them very recently since I put on new wheels...
Right after filling them to 36 psi - using an accurate gauge, 1 reads 37, 1 reads 35, 1 reads 34 and maybe 1 36. After a day or 2, they get a little further apart - in both directions. After a week or so, next wash, they are usually 1 lb low each (by gauge, not DIC)...like I said, I use the DIC as a guide and do my normal to take care of the pressures...

TPMS sensors do not update instantaneously, they review the air pressure in different time cycles. Tire pressure is also very sensitive to outside air temperature, as well as wheel temperature after being driven. Simply parking one side of the car facing the sun will change your air pressure. I've found TPMS sensors to be very accurate, within 1 psi. It is the tire pressure that varies quite a bit, depending on conditions.

make sure to use a nice digital gauge to set the tire pressure, it should match the gauge pretty close.
