Cracked Windshield....arrrrgh

Was out running an errand and when I parked, the sun caught my eye in the windshield. Turns out it was cracked. Looked at it from the outside, and there was a rock impact over the inspection sticker, and it has run to the edge one way, and about 6 inches the other way, 10 inches and counting. Should be fun finding a replacement.

Update! Surprisingly, the insurance recommended glass replacement company has the factory windshield in stock, and since it's factory, there will be a lifetime warranty for leaks/wind noise.

also just because they say its factory glass does not mean its the original. if in fact its safelite that they suggested 9 chances out of 10 they will be using safelite glass (sgc in the botton corner of the windshield) although made to factory specs this is not factory glass.

Not Safelite. Company doing the install is Advanced Glass, and they said it's factory glass, from the same supplier that builds it for Oshawa.

is their any charge to you?here in kentucky,if you have a front windshield crack you don't have to contact your insurance co.,just call any glass co. you want and they come out and replace it.glass co. does the insurance work.

Just be sure to check around your A pillars, hood/fenders for any black urethane residue left by the installers...it's a lot easier to get it removed before it really hardens. Also, check for small scratches in areas around the windshield. My preference is to take it to a shop where there are usually two repairmen installing the windshield as to the mobile service where there is only one...it's a lot harder for the one guy to install it properly (i.e. lining it up, not hitting the body area around where it goes in, etc.).

That's what I'm doing, they wanted to come to the house, but I said I'd rather do it in a shop.
