Mine had a hot/burned smell for several weeks after new and then it cleared. I suspect it is oil, stickers and other things on the engine and exhaust that is getting burned off.
I could not smell this from inside the car (unless window was open) and generally would only smell it after I had driven and parked.

Yep, normal. I have 1200km on mine and after a hard run I can still smell it a bit. There are a lot of residues and assembly lubes used when manufacturing and assembling the power train that gets burnt off. It does take a while.

You're going to smell it right after start up since those smells like to get trapped a bit in the HVAC system. Takes a few minutes to get the air circulated through again.

There are stickers all over the exhaust. I just changed my complete exhaust and there was still several on there that hadn't burned off yet toward the back. The front stickers were incinerated in the first couple hundred miles and stunk up the garage.

Bar code manufacturing = stickers everywhere. But on the plus side, no brain power required for correct assembly. If you can pull the trigger on a scanner, you too can build a car. Or assemble a Big Mac. Take away the computer instructions though and your likely to get half a bun with mustard and a raw chicken breast on it.

The dealer told me to expect some smoke and a burnt smell at first from a undercoating they spray on the car at the factory. When i drove it home you could see a gray smoke comming from under the car, but it when away after a couple of days.

normal I think one culprit is the stickers they put on the exhaust system. The stuff they use to identify the parts ,they never take them off.

Yeah, the same with mine when I first got it. I noticed a big black streak down the center of each trash can they call stock mufflers and realized is was burnt bar code stickers. Now the trash cans are in the landfill and there are shiny new Borlas in their place.
