Harmonic Balancer wobble

Had the Camaro 2ss at a buddy's shop and he noticed that the harmonic balancer was wobbling and not smooth. Started his 6.1 Hemi up and it was smooth. Took it to the deal and they looked it over said it was fine, had everyone in the shop look at it. Made them start the one in the show room and was smooth. Said they had to order parts for it and will call when they come in.
Ok, on to another issue of concern another problem have a question on is anyone notice a backfire or pop from the After mark mufflers from Gm, 3 inch tips. Is this from the motor being off balance or something else? back pressure maybe? That has been going on since the car was picked up but not all the time but does do it.

Thank you

That should be a popping when you decel. That is normal. You can have it tuned out if it bothers you.

I searched this forum and the other "LS3" vehicle forums and it seems pretty common for a little bit of wobble on LS series engines. (Or shall I say V8 GM engines). I guess the GM balancer isn't that great to begin with but shouldn't give you any reliability problems even with the wobble. (some also say they are straight and true and your eyes are playing tricks on you.

Please keep us posted on the new pulley and if it solves your problem (my understanding is aftermarket pulleys eliminate the wobbling effect but would be cool to know if a GM part fixes it as well)
Thank you, will keep you posted!

I noticed the same wobble on mine last summer..... Went to the dealer, and looked at 2 other LS3's. They were all the same.

I don't think this is actually a harmonic balancer, from what I can see, it looks like a regular pulley. I was told that the LS3 was internally balanced , can someone confirm ?

I have heard the bolt is bent, loose or broken before. I did grab mine, seemed tight at least.

This is a well known problem on Corvette engines. In some cases the bolt backs out and the pulley tries to walk off the shaft, and in other cases the webbing between the pulley and the hub deteriorates causing it to wobble.
