1971 Corvette- LS6 4-speed

Hey Cam5!

Right, so here in the SoCal region, we've got this beautiful 1971 Stingray for sale.
It has a powerful 454 LS6 (not crate; made from quality parts), T-Tops, A/C, and the real kicker- a 4 speed manual transmission.
How much fun is that? A big block manual trans combo!

It's even had its picture taken for a publication (though it never made it into the final product; the '69 Camaro was too much competition) a couple years ago!

A little history:
It was bought as a project car. It just a regular 454. We bought it to throw in a bigger engine and sell it, which is where we stand today. It's never had a rust and has only had a handful of owners.
Since around spring of '09, it's been sitting around at Ken Grody Ford's fleet branch location, so it's essentially been garaged for about a year.

All we're asking for is $50,000 obo. If interested, you can call Louis at 562-318-9150, or throw a PM by me. Located in Whitter/Buena Park
Thanks for your time.

Is there anything special, rare or more desirable about it that you gave it that pricetag? It is a very nice looking car but I have never seen one in this age range sell anywhere near that price. The LS6 is a great engine but not enough to inflate the price that much.

Other than the big-block-4-speed combo with A/C, not really. To be honest, I think my dad bought it during his mid-life crisis. He didn't really think things through, and I don't even think he can break even on it.

Ok - fully understand.

Please dont take this the wrong way as I am just trying to assist you.

Based on what I see and the muscle car market at this time - he should adjust his asking price to about $14k-$18k if he is looking to sell it. Unfortunately investment never equals market value and this one just looks way off.

For the $50k pricetag today you can get a '63 split window coupe or a 427 tri power car that are in nice condition.

I think he'd be willing to adjust the price if he didn't take a $50k loan out on the house.

Honestly, I stopped caring about the car along time ago (about the time I stopped fitting comfortably in it ), and now I'm just trying to help him move it since I've got college coming up next year, and I'd like to know where I stand once finances start coming into play.

yes. He may get 20k if he gets really lucky, but I doubt it.

At this point it's just time to cut your loses and dump the thing. you will just have to explain that it will take a special kind of sucker to pay 50k for this car.

Yup, I had a 1970 Coupe #1 condition, matching numbers,350/350 HP,4 speed Corvette years ago that I kick myself every day for selling (the old story, getting married, needed a house, etc.) I would gladly pay 50 grand if I found another one of those in the condition mine was in wayyyyy before I paid close to 50 for this one. Not hating..just saying. Good luck

If this helps... Cars are not investments in this price range but rather hobbies. Hobbies cost money but are good for the soul. If he gets any money for this car he will be ahead of the game for some folks strippers are a hobby, traveling is a hobby. Neither of those can recoup the cost- but your dad has a chance to get at least some back.

Ps - on an ipad always sp the word "neither" yourself. Seems the ipad chooses a word that is very well lets just say very.
